In this modern world, the majority of us keep our physical bodies clean-We take showers, wear deodorant, spray on perfume/cologne, wash our clothes, and etc.
How many of us actually take the time to care for our mental health to the same extent?
Have you ever caught yourself in negative thought loops with self-defeating or hopeless thoughts? Did you know your body hears and listens to these ideas? Especially if spoken out loud.
You have the ability to re-write the neural pathways in your brain that cause you to think certain ideas.
There are many articles on the studies that show how we can reprogram our brain by thinking and/or saying positive affirmations.
I've recently learned that it is even more powerful to re-phrase these affirmations, by asking why they are so. This is because the subconscious mind works to answer the question, and solidifies the affirmation.
Example: Why am I so productive? (The subconscious mind will go through ways and ideas of how to make this true- strengthening those neural pathways)
I will give a list here with some examples, incase you want to try it out for yourself!
- Why do I have everything I need?
- Why am I so energized and motivated?
- Why do I choose the healthiest habits and stick with them effortlessly?
- Why do I have such steady courage and ability to pursue my goals?
- Why do I have healthy and firm boundaries?
- How do I nourish my body with everything it needs?
- Why am I so at peace?
- etc!
You can make your own affirmations, too, and that's the beauty of it!
Even if you don't use this practice, I hope it helps you to at least become more aware of your mental state, and what your thoughts and voice does to you.
