NBC has had a lot of good TV shows in the past. Friends, The Office, Heroes and Parks and Rec are my favorites. Good Girls belongs on that list. With a great cast, a great storyline and scenes that not only are jaw dropping, but also emotional, Good Girls is one of the best TV Shows of the last decade, and not just on NBC, but on any network.
Good Girls follows the story of 3 women who, due to financial shortcomings, decide to rob their local supermarket. However, unbeknownst to them, the supermarket was being used to launder money by a drug boss. With a cast including Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman, these three actresses play the perfect roles, both comedically and in those scenes where there's a bit more somber or emotional feel to them. It's properly funny when it needs to be, the show is properly sad when it needs to be and the show leaves you wanting to know more about the relationships between the women and the drug lord, Rio, who is played perfectly by Manny Montana. Manny plays Rio to perfection, both as a drug lord, but also as a sort of point of tension for one of the main characters, who's husband has been a little free with his free time, if you know what I mean.
Overall, Jenna Bans did a great job with the writing of this series. She's also known for writing for other shows such as Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. With 4 seasons, this show is amazing, and could have 100% gone on for longer, but NBC did end up cancelling this show after 4 seasons, but even with it being cancelled, it's 1000% worth the binge.
