Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced his candidacy for president with the support of Elon Musk. The announcement was made on Twitter and followed by a launch video. DeSantis plans to visit early states after Memorial Day. Musk's endorsement could greatly benefit DeSantis by exposing him to a large following, but it may also pose challenges if distracted by Musk's controversial comments.

The governor said he will continue "to support Bitcoin and his fight against central bank digital currencies."

The announcement coincided with a high-end fundraiser retreat in Miami. While Musk has not formally endorsed DeSantis, his participation is a sign of support. Despite technical difficulties during the announcement, DeSantis's campaign reported raising $1 million online in the first hour.

DeSantis faces challenges in his quest for the Republican nomination, trailing behind Trump in early polls and facing criticism of his policies and campaign style. However, his success in Florida and his pro-Bitcoin stance may attract sure voters.
