The following article is based on a philosophical discussion with a friend in India. 

They want to favor certain businesses, and they want to favor certain people. Behaviors like crony capitalism and state capitalism are when the government uses taxpayers'/public money by giving it to companies and individuals. However, such behaviors do not only exist because of different political parties and politicians.

For example, in Sweden, most people would say that corruption is wrong and that economic interests can corrupt public institutions. At the same time, most people would say that the government should do more about the economy and intervene in market regulations. So people usually want inconsistent and contradictory things at the same time because humans are very consistent.

Thereby, state or crony capitalism also exists because many people favor that by feeling or thinking that it is good that the government provides subsidies to farmers or "support our companies" and "buy American/European". In Sweden, most people believe that the government providing money to political parties is a good thing because they are afraid that if political parties don't get money from the government, they will get money from big business.

Decentralization is the core solution, the core to why because I see potential with cryptocurrencies that people don't only trade and exchange and produce. With crypto, more people can create better democratic methods for conversations and decision-making, new social models, their welfare, and a better understanding of economies and markets.

In the current models with representative democracy, such as voting every four or five years for a new government, it is easy to sit at home or work and feel or think "the government should do something". Regardless if you are or are not directly affected by a certain problem or issue, it is easy to think or feel that money can be spent and given to companies and special interests without deeper reflection. You don't have to calculate or to read reports about the welfare state or government spending. You do not have to engage. 

One of the problems for democracy is when people have unrealistic and overkill demands from the government. People believe that the government can fix something. If the government is not fixing that, it means that the government is corrupted, leading to the conclusion that the people need to take power and make something happen. The road to hell or to authoritarianism is paved with good or democratic intentions. Because, once more to be said, state capitalism doesn't exist only because they are state capitalists with different political parties, but also because they are such expectations among "ordinary citizens, ordinary people". 

Decentralization can solve such problematic behaviors of people having unrealistic beliefs. Decentralization of the economy can improve things because humans can co-create and engage for the things they need and want instead of thinking or expecting that the government should provide subsidies to farmers of companies or certain businesses. This is why crypto is not only about money and finance but also about democracy and community through decentralized cooperation and civic engagement.
