Brave Introduces Brave Search For All Users In Beta State. | Privacy-Oriented Search Engine

Hey everyone, So bitcoin is still playing with us and things aren't clear as well. But shift your focus on another side of crypto, as brave has just launched a beta version of their search engine Brave Search for all users. Here are some insights.

What Is Brave Search?

So, if you are in crypto for quite some time then you must have had an encounter with the Brave browser, or maybe you are still using it just like be. Even if you are not related to crypto but have searched on the internet for a privacy-oriented browser, then must have found it somewhere. It is a very good browser for privacy and an ad-free experience. So, Brave Search is a search engine from the same team. It was announced back in March. It is a privacy-oriented search engine and puts your privacy as the topmost priority.

Why Brave Search?

Now the question arrives why you should switch to brave search?. Well, if you are concerned about your privacy then this is for you, because it is built on top of a completely independent index, and doesn’t track users, their searches, or their clicks.

CEO and Co-Founder of Brave,  Brendan Eich said that

Brave Search is the industry’s most private search engine, as well as the only independent search engine, giving users the control and confidence they seek in alternatives to big tech.

Now, this is something big to say and it is quite correct also as Brave Search offers a new way to get relevant results with a community-powered index while guaranteeing privacy. Brave Search is also introducing the industry’s first search independence metric, displaying the ratio of results coming exclusively from Brave’s index. It is derived privately using the user’s browser as brave does not build user profiles.

Availability And Accessibility

Brave Search beta is available for all Brave users (desktop/Android/iOS), as well as from other browsers at http://search.brave.com. If you are using the Brave browser then just go to the link and start searching. The same goes for the other browsers just visit the link, you can also make it your default browser by going to the expand option in the top right corner. Is also very easy to use just like any other search engine.

So, just try it on your phone, tab, or desktop and share your feedback.

Highlights And Future Plans

As the search engine has just arrived in the industry we can expect customizations and more options, here are some current highlights of the project

  1. Privacy: no tracking or profiling of users.
  2. User-first: the user comes first, not the advertising and data industries.
  3. Independence: Brave has its own search index for answering common queries privately without reliance on other providers.
  4. Choice: soon, options for ad-free paid search and ad-supported search.
  5. Transparency: no secret methods or algorithms to bias results, and soon, community-curated open ranking models to ensure diversity and prevent algorithmic biases and outright censorship.
  6. Seamlessness: best-in-class integration between the browser and search without compromising privacy, from personalization to instant results as the user types.
  7. Openness: Brave Search will soon be available to power other search engines.

Final Words

As I signed up for the search engine earlier, I got early access to the search engine and using it for the past 3 days. But I have to say it is quite awesome and works efficiently. The search results are quite efficient in context to crypto-related searches. And if you try to knick pick then there are some scenarios where search results perform inconsistently. There is nothing to worry about as we are still in beta and this will be fixed near future from the adoption of search engines.

But the thing is we already have Presearch and it is also providing rewards on their search engine which quite good. They already launched a mobile browser for iOS and soon will launch one for android. Although brave browser provides rewards, the brave search will not reward you. So, they have to introduce something similar to their search engine if they want to attract users, that don't use the Brave browser.

Anyway, it's just the starting and we can expect something from both of these but I think Brave search will be a better option in near future for privacy-oriented aspects.

Edit:

As of now, brave search is not displaying any ads. Although, this is only for the beta phase as they have mentioned that brave will provide ads later, once the product goes into the full-fledge phase and the good/bad news is you can opt for ad-free search but you have to pay for it, most probably with BAT token. And they can also introduce private ads, just like Brave user ads in the Brave browser. This point slipped from my mind when I was writing this article but as @Cryptonator's mentioned in the comment, I thought I should add this in the article.
