XRP Price Under Pressure: Is Positive Funding Concealing Weakness?

XRP-inspired coin hovering above a fractured support platform in a purple crypto market scene

XRP is showing a fragile setup after three consecutive daily declines pushed the price below the $1.50 support, with the token hovering around $1.49. CoinGlass data shows a long-to-short ratio of 0.975, meaning positioning is almost evenly balanced, while the funding rate remains positive at 0.008%. This suggests traders are still willing to pay to maintain long positions, even though spot price action has yet to support that bullish view.

That mismatch is the main concern. Positive funding indicates demand for long exposure, but futures selling is still dominant. CryptoQuant data also points to overheating conditions in both the spot and futures markets. If XRP drops further, leveraged longs could turn into forced sellers, potentially accelerating the decline.

The Key $1.37 Support

Despite the recent weakness, the daily chart has not fully turned bearish. XRP held above its 50-day EMA at around $1.365 and its 200-day EMA near $1.369 during the three-day slide. The 100-day EMA is lower at $1.307.

Momentum has cooled rather than completely reversed. The RSI is around 55, while the MACD is close to zero, suggesting consolidation rather than a confirmed breakdown.

The main level to watch is $1.37, where the 50-day and 200-day EMAs create a key support zone. A clean break below it could open the way toward $1.30, while a deeper decline could eventually bring the psychological $1.00 level into focus.

On the upside, $1.574 is the key resistance. A successful reclaim of that level would strengthen the technical case for a move toward $1.90.

  • Key support: The 200-day EMA at $1.369 is converging with the 50-day EMA.
  • Immediate downside floor: The 50-day EMA at $1.365 provides near-term support.
  • Support zone: Around $1.37; a break below this level could expose the $1.30 area.
  • Secondary support: The 100-day EMA is positioned at $1.307.
  • Key resistance: At $1.574; reclaiming this level would strengthen the case for a move toward $1.90.

XRP price trades near $1.49 as positive funding meets futures selling, with $1.37 support and $1.57 resistance shaping the next move.

What Comes Next to XRP?

As long as XRP holds the $1.37 area, the market could remain in consolidation. However, positive funding alone is not enough to confirm a breakout. A stronger move would also need rising open interest and spot trading volume.

If XRP reclaims $1.574, the setup for a move toward $1.90 becomes stronger, with short sellers potentially forced to cover. On the other hand, a sustained break below $1.37 would shift attention to $1.30, with $1.00 becoming a deeper downside level if that support also fails.

For now, the combination of near-balanced positioning, positive funding, and continued futures selling leaves XRP at an important technical crossroads. The next decisive move in spot price is likely to be more meaningful than any small change in the long-short ratio.
