Electroneum (ETN) has forked to a new blockchain model that they call Proof of Responsibility. A model that they say makes them:
- One of the few cryptocurrencies that is insusceptible to 51% attack
- More scalable and commercially viabable
- Able to have faster on-chain transactions
They have also reduced thier block reward, the new coin emission rate for processing transations, by 75%.
They claim that the new new blockchain processes; Proof of Responsibility and Moderated blockchain, deliver all the benefits of decentralisation whilst adding new layers of protection. The model seems to be modeled on masternode systems, but having Non Governemental Organisations (NGO) partners as node operators - potentially a real asset in building trust and reaching their target user base in developing markets.
