Happy Teachers’ Day 2021

Happy Teachers’ Day 2021

In Singapore, we celebrate Teachers’ Day. Actually, we celebrate Children’s Day too, and it just so happens that Teachers’ Day comes before Children’s Day. And trust this unorthodox teacher to turn a motivational occasion into something quite transactional. LOL.

“You all don’t have to buy me a Teachers’ Day gift,” I preached to my P4 class, “Because I am not going to buy you a Children’s Day gift. So I don’t need anything.”

Deeply empathetic to the fact that some of them probably wanted to shower me with love, I relented and continued, “If you do want to give me something, handwritten notes will do. Or red pens - they are the best!”

“Please don’t give me pencil holders or photo frames,” I pleaded.

It appears that being straightforward with them helped. I received enough red pens to last me for six months!

Which got me wondering: would I have such luck again if I make my intentions transparent and leave my Gemini referral link here: https://www.gemini.com/share/ppkd6ra39.

Mr Heng wants Bitcoin. Mother Universe, will you fulfill his heart’s desire?

Incidentally, Gemini exchange just allowed for the transfer of BAT tokens accumulated by using the Brave Browser, so if you are looking out to start your journey in crypto, the Brave Browser is a viable option (even if it will take you more time than frazzled modern-day people are prepared for lar*)!

lar* - denotes a particle of speech affectionately used by Singaporeans to emphasize a point
