How I Earned $100 per Article Bounty Hunting

Can you make money writing articles?

Can you make money writing articles as a bounty hunter?

To be honest, you will be making very little when you start. But just like everything else, if you persist, if you have grit, you will see the fruits of your work. Instagram accounts, Youtube accounts, and Twitter accounts have the same deal, you start out small and grow into a large audience. You should be writing something every day as opposed to writing a big piece one day and leaving for the next several days.

How to get good at the Gig Economy

We are in the age of GIG ECONOMY, and many people have started doing gigs like driving uber, writing articles, making youtube videos, etc. Those folks called “influencers” make the big bucks, but people with grit can keep the darn boss out of their lives as well. If you have a way of landing big writing jobs and work from home right now, don’t miss it. But many people do not have that luxury and they have to work for it. Everyone starts small, and they make more money as they persist. If you are a good writer from the getgo, then you will accelerate to the top like a hurricane :) One of the most essential factors I have seen first hand is that your writing should be clear.

Remember Trump? He won the election by talking in a way a four-year-old can understand. Simple, straightforward and positive sentences are helpful. I usually write 500-word articles, and they take me about one hour including the research and image editing. As your writing improves, your audience will grow. Using SEO, spreading the word, talking to the company telegram admin you are writing about are all a part of your dissemination. Sometimes I spend more time advertising my writing than writing the article itself.

What I have been doing to get money for writing.

I started my internet writing back in 2009, which was the year when bitcoin first came out. I have heard about this “internet money,” and I looked at it. Unfortunately, all the pages that came for searching Google were negative about it. Everyone said it is all about drugs and gambling, and you may have trouble even for mentioning the word bitcoin (just a little exaggeration here!). So, I decided to write for Hubpages instead. I wrote this article https://owlcation.com/academia/EU-FP7-Marie-Curie-People-program-IOF-IEF-IIF-tips

for that website and about eight others. This article about the EU received a lot of traffic and comments. People started using the comments section like a forum. I was there at first, trying to help folks that commented but then something wonderful happened! They started helping each other. Today, I have over 8700 comments for that article alone, and it is still a passive income source for me through google ads.

Scientific Writing

I have over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and three books that are on Amazon.com, but these take time and writing those feel like math because there is not much room for creativity. For the scientific articles, you are merely reporting your scientific methodology and results. Even the introduction has to be carefully planned because you are simply giving a background using a lot of papers from other people. Writing a book is more fun, but then you have to plainly provide information to others, again with no creativity from your side. Writing reports for the EU is a tad more fun because I am simply evaluating their projects or evaluating the evaluators, and I can write any way I want. Being the authority figure is almost always more comfortable than submitting something to some other authority figure.

Having a scientific background including project evaluation, I have decided to delve into ICO evaluation. I have been working as a bounty hunter, and I have been writing on demand articles.

On-Demand Articles or Bounty Hunting?

As expected, writing on demand articles usually pay more. For Bob's repair, I have been running their twitter account, I ran their Reddit account and wrote them an on-demand article in addition to writing emails for them using SendGrid. I do not remember the money I was paid, but I remember I was paid with tokens and at the time it was about 0.9 ETH with the ICO price. The CEO said “make it sexy” as a joke, and I wrote this article :)

I wrote an on-demand article for Human Trust Protocol and their Hub Token and guess what? They paid me using BNTY tokens. I think it was 30 USD at the time; it is about 10 USD worth now because I did not sell the tokens at the time. Here is the article:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/know-who-trust-online-blockchain-vincent-lionheart/

I prepared a ppt presentation (https://www.slideshare.net/VincentLionheart/eo-sex-ppt) for EOSex.com, which is an EOS exchange and I have been writing their Medium articles (100 USD per article, paid as EOS) at https://medium.com/@EOSex.

Bounty hunter articles used to get me around 100 USD as well, but now that we are in bear season, a lot of ICOs are in trouble, and bounty hunters are chewing on bones :) For example, at the bull season I received a lot of tokens for Midex article and managing a local thread and I made 11 ETH from that project. Good old bull days.

I am still making money by writing articles for some projects, but it is harder to pick the correct one because a lot of them turn out to be duds. Check out this article I wrote for Alpha Car:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/alphacar-know-you-getting-good-car-vincent-lionheart/

Alpha Car, at the time, sounded like an ICO that could not collect money and they did not have many bounty hunters on their thread, and the manager was new. I joined and made a lot of tokens. The other day I sold some of my tokens for 180 USDT. They are from China, and they are formally forbidden to participate in exchanges. What happens is people buy their tokens on Chinese OTC rooms and folks who understand Chinese buy the tokens from far out, unknown exchanges and sell them with a profit. This, in turn, increases ACAR token price. Nice isn’t it?

How do I choose the ICOs to write my articles on?

Well, I have been mainly writing for https://bountyhive.io/r/ridertiger. However, the number of projects coming to their site has been slow of late, and it is getting harder and harder to get a spot in the article pool. I follow some people to write an article, and I joined some telegram channels to watch out for good projects. I used to use ICOBench, but they have made so many wrong predictions, I am no longer using them. I find that https://icorating.com/ is a good site to check out ICOs and https://icodrops.com/bounty-list/ clearly shows the bounty list for good ICOs. Many people prefer icodrops but then like everything in the world; you have to find a balance. Because the ICO bounties use the staking system, the more people join a bounty, the less bounty you will get. It is better to find valuable bounties many hunters are not aware of.

I evaluate ICOs, STOs, IEOs usually on a positive light. My day job is the evaluation of scientific projects for EU.
