Every system has an Achilles heel. It becomes a point of how much you are willing to put up with it and where you draw the line. I have already reached this point with many companies that might be mainstream, but they lack customer service. Maybe I’m too old, but getting an answer or help when you need it is valuable.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Crypto.com’s debit card and I think it is the most convenient system for putting all your crypto needs into one app. I get crypto back from all my purchases, I can buy and sell at cost. They even have NFT and, best of all, a free tax service. So you get a lot for nothing. So I do love that.
However, their customer service is all messaging. This means that you get an answer in a few minutes (hopefully). But as you will see in the story below, something slipped through the system.
During the ritual, Black Friday shopping, my daughter and I were at the local mall. She got what she “needed” minus that I thought wasn’t “needed.”- the old father equation. We went to check out, and then my crypto.com card was rejected.
I applied to upgrade the crypto.com card to get better rewards and even more cashback, but the new card hadn’t arrived. So I thought that might be a reason, except the card is steel and takes a long time to make. But I still use it on the internet frequently, so I was confused.
My teenage daughter’s face looked at me in horror. How embarrassing. More rapid than reindeers my fingers they flew as I whipped out my American Express that I carry out of habit. I mean, who uses Airmiles anymore? I paid with the old but reliable AE.
As we sat to enjoy nice cups of non-Starbucks coffee, I checked my crypto.com app. The money on the card was enough. So, I contacted customer service. Since there were no live people to talk to, it was via chat. I got a message, and the response might take one to two days. What!
Usually, their customer service responses are much faster, about five minutes. I was a little concerned. This is where having an emergency number pays off. I dislike my AE, but there is someone to solve my problems 24/7. My daughter didn't understand why I was upset. Everything was paid for.
So you be the judge. Did I overreact or should there be someone to talk to in order to get an answer? Am I a fossil of the Dark Ages (pre-internet). Let me know. I am not offended by opinions. However, I am curious.
I still think that Crypto.com is a promising app and their coin CRO is promising. I think they will be a leader in bringing crypto into the mainstream. They have already purchased the name to the Laker’s Arena, and it will change to Crypto.com on Christmas. This connection between crypto and the NBA will definitely shoot their coin to the moon. Since the purchase last month it was gone up a lot. That article is here.
If you are interested in crypto.com’s app and card, you can use my link to get $25 back using the referral- sgzmvt6gyh. Even though this is a complaint, I still think that it is the best app out there, and I love the steel card.
