What is Walken?
Walken is a Move-to-Earn app, the app is available worldwide, you can download this on both Android and iOS. Sign up is quick and easy, however please remember to store your 12 word phrases in a safe place, as this is the only way to access your account if you have to re-install the app.
When you first sign in you are given an NFT called CAThlete. This is given to you for free and with this NFT you compete in races against other players to earn a crypto currency called Walken (WLKN). The amount of tokens you can earn all depends on the level of your NFT, so the higher the level the more WLKN you will receive when you win a race against another player. Please note, that you are not the full owner of the NFT until it has reached level 6 and you pay 200 WLKN to convert it to an NFT. Once you have done this, you can then start to withdraw your earnings to your wallet. It is possible to earn for free, this just takes more time to level up your NFT to level 6.
How Do You Level Up?
The only way you can level up is by upgrading your CAThlete with an in-game token called “Gems”. You earn gems by walking, if you do a lot of steps per day you will be able to level up your CAThlete quite quickly.
Along with having to spend Gems to level up, you also need to spend WLKN. the chart below shows you how many Gems and WLKN you need to spend for each level.
When it comes to using your WLKN tokens to level up, this can be taken from your pending balance. So it is 100% possible to earn for free, just keep in mind that it will take time, patience and a lot of grinding to get to level 6 to get full ownership of your NFT.
To level up your CAThlete click on “Collectibles” on the bottom of the screen and then select your CAT. If I click on the orange button (see pic), it will bring up a message saying that I can level up and how much it will cost to do this, it also shows your available balance at the top of the screen. I have a different strategy so this is why I haven’t levelled this NFT yet.
How Do You Race?
When you sign up to Walken, you are randomly given an NFT. It will already have a name, you can’t choose the colour and the stats are also randomly set. You earn WLKN by racing against other players, whoever has the greater stats will win the race and some WLKN, this amount depends on whatever level you are on.
To start racing and earning WLKN, click on “Competiton” at the bottom, you will then see different Leagues (see pic) when you swipe to the left or right.
If you have just signed up, you will be starting from level 1 but playing regularly you will level up quickly. There are two different types of races you can compete in, “PVP Dual" & "Competition”, personally I prefer competition as this is much more casual and not as competitive. You can decide for yourself which one is best for you. However, I am just going to select “Competiton” for now.
The next screen will show you your available CAT’s that can play in the selected league. This lightning symbol (see pic) tells you how much energy you have left, 1 race will consume 1 energy.
After using your energy, depending on what rarity your CAT is, it can take between 1 - 2 hours to recover 1 energy, so I usually try to play every 6 hours to get the most out of this game. All of my CAT’s are common so this means I recover 1 energy every 2 hours.
As you can see here (see pic), there are three different types of stats: Strength, Stamina and Speed.
Each one is important when you are competing against other people in a race. It is also important to note your strongest stat as this will give you the most advantage when it comes to racing. If I click on this CAT, the next screen shows three different races, Sprint, Urban and Marathon. It also tells you which stat is most effective for each race. So my CAT’s highest stat is “Strength” so this means I should choose the “Urban” race.
You might have to verify first by completing a quick captcha and then the race will start. When the race starts, each stat for both players is compared and a portion of the players bar will be filled depending on the stats. The first player to fill their bar will win the race and some WLKN. If you win, you will get paid the WLKN token into your pending balance. If you lose, there is a chance to win “Mysberries” which can be used to boost a random stat permanently “up to” 30%.
Store
If you click on “Store” in the bottom right, you will see 3 menus at the top (see pic).
“Boosters” is where you can buy Mysberries with your available and pending walken balance. “Lootboxes” tells you about all the available lootboxes you can potentially earn. “Marketplace” is where you can buy CAT NFT's, clothing and artefacts. If you are wanting to improve your stats for your CAT, this is the place to go to do it. For example if I click on a random hat, you can see the rarity and the bonus stats you will receive when it is equipped (see pic).
You can purchase with WLKN or SOL, buying items from the Marketplace is entirely up to you and you can still earn WLKN without purchasing any items.
Daily Spin & Quests
If I go back to “Home” you can see there are 2 boxes (see pic), “Wheel of Fortune” and “Daily Quests”.
The wheel of fortune allows you to spin twice per day for free, you just need to watch a quick ad. You have the chance to win GEMS, WLKN, Mysberries and a Lootbox, which I think is pretty cool. The higher the rank you are, the better the rewards. You can find out how to rank up by clicking the icon in the top right on the home screen which will take you to this screen (see pic).
Daily quests are a set of different tasks you can complete over the course of 7 days. When you have completed 3, 5 and 7 days you are rewarded a JAR which can contain some nice rewards. Remember to check in daily and claim your rewards.
Payouts
Walken has an in-built wallet, which is pretty useful as you can send and receive WLKN or SOL quickly and easily. At the top of the “Home” screen you can see your WLKN and SOL wallets. I will choose WLKN for this example, if you click on it, your wallet will open up and you can then see your available balance along with 2 buttons underneath. One to receive WLKN and one to send WLKN, when you are sending WLKN please make sure you have enough SOL to cover any fees.
I mentioned earlier you don’t get full ownership of your NFT until it has reached level 6, this is the same when it comes to withdrawing your earned WLKN. When your CAT has reached level 6, you will be able to push your pending WLKN balance to your main wallet. You need to have a minimum of 20 WLKN in your pending balance and this takes about 5 - 10 minutes to show up in your main wallet.
Buy/Sell WLKN
When it comes to buying or trading your WLKN tokens, Bybit is a good exchange to use and I have never had any problems with using this platform. I have left a link below if you haven’t signed up to it yet. This is the only exchange I have used for trading my WLKN tokens and hopefully we see some more exchanges listing this token soon.

How to Earn More WLKN
I have already gone over daily spins and quests, however, there are a couple of more ways to earn WLKN? Staying on the Home screen, you can see this button here called “Walken Earn Plans” (see pic).
This is where you can lock up your WLKN and receive a certain APR % back in return. This is high risk and you should only do this if you can afford to lose your tokens.
Another good way to earn some more tokens for free is by playing the game “Walken Runner”, this is a newly added game to the Walken ecosystem and it is a fun and easy way to earn free WLKN tokens. You also have the chance to earn Gems and Mysberries, I highly recommend checking this game out, this can be downloaded from the Play Store and App Store.
