Hey Vitalik, Can I Get My Gas Fees Back? - Ethereum Gas Fee Refund Scam

Hey Vitalik, Can I Get My Gas Fees Back?

Did you know that by entering your Ethereum address on etherscan you can track your gas fee spending over time? Gas Fees on Ethereum are among the highest in the industry and they add up quickly over time.

Now imagine if I tell you that with the latest upgrade to Ethereum 2.0, you can get all your gas fees refunded. It sounds like a wet dream for every crypto enthusiast and unfortunately, it will never be anything more than this.

You will never receive a refund of your gas fees that you have spent in the past even if scam ads on Twitter are telling you something else.

Don't Try To Receive A ETH Gas Fees Refund

One of the most annoying scam ads that is currently flooding the timelines of crypto Twitter is this one about the Ethereum Gas Fee Refund. In the screenshots below, there are three examples of this scam ad that is currently all over crypto Twitter.

Receiving a refund of all your Ethereum Gas fees sounds too good to be true. This is a scam. When attempting to claim free ETH by connecting your wallet on this site, you will surely end up losing all the funds in your wallet.

Scam Ads On Twitter/X

Those who were hoping that the scam and spam would disappear with Elon Musk`s Twitter takeover must be very disappointed. Things have gotten so much worse when it comes to spam and scams on Twitter since it has been unsuccessfully rebranded to X.

As soon as a new airdrop is claimable that everyone on Twitter is talking about then new ads appear like this scam ad about the $ENA airdrop.

The team working with Elon Musk has made it difficult for users to distinguish between ads and regular messages. The hint located on the upper right of the message has become so small that it can easily be overlooked while scrolling through the timeline.

The impersonators are also still on Twitter and more active than ever. Crypto Projects on Twitter have developed the habit of following up a message with another message indicating that this was the end of the message.

My Final Conclusion

Elon Musk changed the algo on X successfully to his advantage. It is hard to escape messages from Elon Musk and Tesla when you are on Twitter. This may be an improvement for Elon Musk but not for those who are using Twitter.

He promised to fight the bots and spam but so far the situation has not improved. The opposite is the case. Spam and scam got totally out of hand since Twitter is no longer Twitter.
