Splinterlands - Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund.jpg

For those unfamiliar, the crypto gaming scene is quite challenging, with projects constantly emerging and disappearing. The problem with this situation is that the project community is left at a loss when a major project closes, with little to do about it. This causes all the people who were on social media, which number in the tens of thousands, to split up and go their separate ways.

With this in mind, a proposal was created and approved by the Splinterlands DAO to create a fund called the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund. This fund aims to attract this previously active gaming community to the Splinterlands ecosystem and other partners, such as dCrops, which recently joined the project. Learn more about the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund, the first participating projects, and details about dCrops' partnership with the Recovery Fund.

[ENGLISH VERSION]

What is the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund?

In this difficult scenario where crypto games struggle to survive, Splinterlands, together with SPS DAO, submitted a proposal to create the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund. While the name might lead people to believe the fund will seek to save games that have experienced problems, the focus is actually on the community—that is, players who have had a bad experience with a web3 game and may be interested in finding a more user-friendly web3 gaming ecosystem, restoring trust within the crypto gaming community. Interestingly, other projects are beginning to partner with this movement, and we may be witnessing the emergence of a new paradigm.

From what I found on the official website, players of one of the listed crypto games will need to fill out a form with information proving that they were negatively impacted by the project's demise. An interesting point is that they must register for a new Splinterlands account, acting as an onboarding tool for a player already familiar with the crypto ecosystem. Next, the player will need to purchase a Spellbook, but to incentivize them, from what I understand, when purchasing the $100 spellbook, they will receive $3 in credits, $5 in packs, and Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund accounts will receive $10 in credits, as if it were cashback on the spellbook purchase.

Furthermore, those who maintain an active status in Splinterlands, based on specific requirements, participating in in-game battles, and earning resources, will be eligible to receive a share of the recovery fund. It's unclear how this will actually work, as this part of the distribution ends up being covered in separate documentation. For those interested, it's important to review all the details in this document.

First Participating Projects

Recently, another proposal related to the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund passed the SPS DAO, addressing some specific projects in which the SPS DAO will help players who participated and were negatively impacted by the closure of these projects. These projects will be: Stealla Fantasy with 300,000 shares, Embersword with 150,000 shares, Shatterline with 100,000 shares, Nyan Heroes with 300,000 shares, Deaddrop with 200,000 shares, Synergy of Serra with 100,000 shares, and Chains of War with 150,000 shares. To participate, you need to go to the claim page and verify.

In this initiative by Splinterlands and SPS DAO to create a Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund, another project on the same blockchain network, dCrops, has decided to join in this mission. Along with Splinterlands, the web3 farming simulation game, dCrops is one of the longest-running NFT gaming projects, having been on the market for over four years and boasting a strong, close-knit community that is eager to help other crypto gaming communities.

According to an announcement on the official dCrops discord, they announced to their community that they are joining as founding sponsors of Crypto Gaming Recovery, donating 1,000 Starter Packs to support the fund. The idea is that players coming from other games will fill out the form, purchase the dCrops Starter Pack, and then submit a refund request in a channel.
