The Axie Infinity ecosystem can be a bit complex for newcomers. First, you need to visit the main site—app.axieinfinity—where you gain access to a marketplace featuring Axies, accessories, land plots, land items, runes, charms, materials, and consumables. Each of these items relates to a different element of the Axie ecosystem.
One of the key pillars is the "Bounties" system—five daily missions that allow players to accumulate points. By the end of the week, players who rank in the top 3,000 earn bAXS tokens; the higher the rank, the better the reward.
Consumables and materials are used to evolve Axies and complete missions, while Axies themselves are required to play games like Origins and Classic, complete objectives, and climb the leaderboards for each title. For a long time, however, accessories, land items, and even the land plots themselves felt somewhat disconnected from the broader ecosystem—until the arrival of Terrariums.
With every new Terrarium update, developers are adding layers and multipliers to the token distribution logic for the Land-allocated bAXS pool. What was once a passive feature now engages various parts of the ecosystem; while it has become more complex, it is finally bringing together disparate elements and giving a new purpose to Land, accessories, land items, and Axies alike!

New Changes to Axie Infinity Terrariums
For a long time, Axie Infinity Lands were part of the game mode known as "Homeland," where completing specific quests guaranteed the player a certain amount of AXS tokens. The higher the Land's rarity, the more AXS was earned.
It was a way to earn tokens semi-passively; while completing quests still took time, the process was simple and—aside from token price fluctuations—the reward quantity was stable. However, this changed with the introduction of Terrariums. What was once a predictable reward amount now depends on your ability to generate Atia Flame, as well as the amount of Atia Flame generated by each Land type.
While the process used to be straightforward, it now depends on your collectibles and those of other players. This dynamic shifts with every pool—and potentially every hour—because distribution occurs every "tick" (hourly). Consequently, a player might generate varying amounts of Atia Flame, causing the final reward you receive to fluctuate.
Initially, the only factor influencing Atia Flame generation was Axie rarity. A "Normal" Axie would generate 5, whereas a "Japanese" Axie generated 60, and a "Mystic" Axie generated 1,000. This alone raised a host of questions: Is it better to place all your best Axies on a single Land or distribute them? Which Land type yields the highest return for a high score? You now have to consider your share of the pool while simultaneously anticipating the actions of other players.
To increase complexity, the team has altered the formula; it now takes into account "evolved matches" and includes an accessory-based boost derived from the Axie's base "Atia Flame" value. Furthermore, the amount of Land items present will also factor into the plot's Flame generation bonus.
This will significantly boost the utility of these items, as they will now directly impact bAXS generation. However, it creates a rather complicated scenario for new players: they would need a plot of land and 30 Axies (the maximum capacity for a plot). To maximize output, those Axies would need to be "Collectibles"—which drives up costs—plus the Axies would require accessories, and the land itself would need Land items. It has become "a bit" complicated to understand—and for a new player to participate in the ecosystem.
