Mining ethereum

Mining ethereum

Hello you reader out there.

I am somebody interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. In this article i will write about the mining experience i'm having.
Knowing the cryptos there are two types of them if we group them without going into specific categorization within these 2.
Pos(proof of stake) and Pow(proof of work). I'm more interested in keeping my assets in the later one, as it can be somehow more decentralized than the other one.

So, being a fan of the mine-able coins i build my own rig with AMD cards(a small one) and started that journey 2 years ago. Devices that i bought where used so they didnt actually cost me that much (around 800$). I can say that i started at a bad time to mine or late, but it is something that i was prepared when i dipped myself in this. I didnt start mining to sell those ethereum as i reached a certain amount, it was more for the long run and my believes that i can be part of that community that is keeping decentralization of that coin by giving his attribute with my modest hashrate.

In these 2 years i started with 2 gpus and now i'm 6 ( told you it was a small rig). During these times there have been problems with the configs, temperatues, crashes, everything but as you pass more time you start learning more and more, so the maintenance doesnt become a problem anymore.

The miner i've been using from the start has been claymoreminer, but as we are getting closer to december that miner will stop mining due to a limit in the coding epoch #384 (which is exactly 4gb DAG size). The developer of claymore has gone ghost for a around 1 years, so we cant wait for an update from him.

The only alternative that i have in mind to replace this is Phoenixminer, as i've seen around that is a reliable miner. The only thing that makes me doubt is that if i will get the same hashrate/wattage because from users around the net i've seen different stats but still less than claymore.

If you personally mine ethereum and use another miner i would really appreciate if you could leave it in the comments below.

Thank you,

This blog will be particularly my point of view and analysis around cryptocurrencies world, even blockchain technology appliances that i come across in my journey. I'm a believer that the next generation in finances and assets should be transparent to the public, otherwise government and authorities trust is lost from us, the people.
