A roadmap for their upcoming project, a protocol for social networks, has been revealed by the development team led by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

His plan focuses on limiting the power held by the major technological giants that currently own Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

The "Authenticated Transfer Protocol" or AT Protocol will serve as the foundation for a new online connectivity standard, according to an official blog post from Jack Dorsey's business. It will serve as a layer that frees us from centralized control or corporate influence.

The AT protocol differs from today's most widely used social networks based on the power it gives the user. As the Netflix documentary "The Dilemma of Social Networks" reveals, these have been accused of manipulating, spying, and even undermining democracy.

The Bluesky Web social network, dubbed the "perfect browser" for Internet access via the AT protocol, is a complement to the development team's initiative. This is so that it can operate defiantly of the dictates of a single corporation. According to the company's announcement, Bluesky Web was built on an open-source architecture called Lexicon, which will enable integration between other AT-based social networks and services.
