Grow your Chia farm FASTER!

Chia Network is a blockchain based on proofs of space and time.

So if you have the time (to "plot" farms) and the space (hard drives, solid state drives) you can participate.

Specifically Chia supports:

  • MacOS 10.14 Mojave
  • Windows 10
  • Ubuntu 18.04 (20.04 highly recommended)
  • Raspberry Pi OS 64 or Ubuntu 20.04 for Pi/ARM64 (limited to farming)

Okay so if you are a Mac user and have say an iMac and a MacBook, can you plot on both machines to speed up the creation of those precious Chia farms?

The answer is yes, the documentation is pretty clear for Windows but was a little hard to find for Macs (also applies to Linux).

First download the installation file to your second Mac, import your address by by importing the mnemonic word list, then shut down the app because we have to alter a config file.

Here is the link to Windows Tips & Tricks, Disable uPnP when running multiple nodes. One computer is the primary one with UPnP enabled (plotting and farming) and the other computers are just plotting with uPnP disabled.

How to do on a Mac

Same as with Windows, alter the config file which can be found in the hidden folder .chia.

In the Finder menu (right click the Finder menu on the Dock) use Go to Folder -> ~/.chia/, find the config.yaml file within the mainnet folder and sub-folder config  and open with text edit.

Another way is to see hidden files/folders: cmd + shift + [.], look in ~user/library/application support

Then change the following:

enable_upnp: true

true

to

enable_upnp: false

false

and save the file.

Now when you restart Chia the second machine doesn't waste bandwidth synchronizing but just starts the plotting. When it is finished you can move consolidate the plots on the drives attached to your primary machine.

Good luck farming!
