One year in crypto is like ten years in fiat
The crypto world is incredibly fast paced, there are all sorts of promotions, events, airdrops, offers, sign up bonuses going on, BUT also dangerous scams.
For nocoiners, it is always too late to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum, or there are always too many obstacles - the KYC of setting up a Coinbase or Binance account, transferring fiat in etc. etc. (even though you can get FREE Bitcoin as sign up bonuses!)
Even if you have set up one account, sometimes it seems just too much work to sign up for another exchange which is offering $25 free, like say Crypto.com or register for some platform like say BlockFi which gifts $15 in Bitcoin, again filling out the tedious KYC forms and uploading documents.
Sure you could stake on Cake DeFi and get from $21 to $50 when you deposit just $50, but .....
And get involved with promotional twitter schemes, like and retweet, even here on PublishOx like the current Marhaba 'Halal' DeFi & Froog Cryptojobs and have a chance to win some ETH.
Then there are Bitcoin faucets like the venerable FreeBitco.in, Daily Freebits and Cointiply and those for Chia (XCH) and Solana (SOL).
Each coin has its own ecosystem, especially with the DeFi world, lots of projects competing with each other.
Hell, even this PublishOx platform itself, most of us can only earn cents. Not worth the trouble?
Why bother?
But consider this:
If you played with UNISWAP (even if you had a failed transaction) you were airdropped 400 UNI tokens per address. At the time of the airdrop they were worth about $4 but now are around $25. Here's Coindesk on that story!
If you used Shapeshift and maybe bought a discounted $10 KeepKey hardware wallet you were airdropped FOX tokens, also interestingly if you had interacted with communities include Gitcoin, Uniswap, SushiSwap, Yearn, Aave, Alchemix, BadgerDAO, 1inch, Compound, Curve, Balancer, Maker and 0x. Again here's Coindesk with the background.
If you interacted with dYdX you received airdropped tokens, some users up to $20,000 - Coindesk.
If you bought an ENS .eth domain, just recently some users received up to $18,000 - Coindesk.
Way back if you dropped by faucets you could receive say 0.1 of a bitcoin, or 0.001, or even 1 BTC in the early, early days! Just think about that.
Do the maths
if you get a $10 or $25 sign up BTC bonus now if (when!) Bitcoin does a 10X those are $100 or $250!!
Even faucets, build up say $1 and that'll be $10.
If you are really lucky and you interact with the right projects who knows you might get a really meaty airdrop!
So it might just be worth your time to SELECTIVELY sign up, join, check out and commit some time and some funds in the hope of such pay offs.
Ideas & issues
The ridiculously high gas fees of Ethereum sometimes negate offers. Some platforms have extortionate fees.
Other ecosystems like Solana or Avalanche might be better, cheaper options, buy up some of their associated coins and projects, play with some of the DeFi platforms and you may get a good surprise sometime in the future!
