Today, I read Cryptonator's Meme Coins are the Cancer of Crypto post. Personally, I think that judgement's a little harsh, but I'm not going to go into that here. In that article, he mentions a number of meme coins, FartCoin among them. Now, being one to appreciate a good fart joke, I felt compelled to investigate.
What is FartCoin?
According to Fast Company, "FartCoin is a memecoin that has no intrinsic value and makes fart sounds with every transaction" and "joke crypto, which is even more useless than Dogecoin".
"Unlike some memecoins, Fartcoin doesn’t even pretend to have intrinsic value. It takes its value entirely from its community, which share gastrointestinal memes and jokes on X. It also has a feature called “Gas Fees” that produce a digital . . . well, fart sound . . . with every transaction. "
Should You Care?
The short answer is "No, probably not." The long answer is that unless you're into toilet humour and appreciate fart noises or keen to cash in on the pump before the dump when it comes to meme coins, no. In my opinion, stick to Dogecoin and Shiba Inu if you want meme coins.
Fast Company has this to report:
"Fartcoin has even surpassed Dogecoin’s all-time highs and blown fellow memecoin Shiba Inu completely out of the water. In midday trading Monday, the token was up another 39% to 83 cents. Dogecoin, on its best day, only reached 73 cents (in May of 2021, right before Elon Musk hosted Saturday Night Live, where he joked about the coin he had pumped on Twitter most of the year, tanking its value).
In the past week, the value of Fartcoin has nearly tripled."
