Champions League Semi Final - Second Leg

By cryptogod-1 | CryptoGod-1 : Sports | 18 May 2023

Good day everyone,

I hope you are all well and have had an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. Today I will be doing a recap on the UEFA Champions League Semi Final second leg results. After last weeks results the tension and pressure was on for these four teams to secure their place in the final in June.

Semi Final Second Leg

Tuesday 16th May 2023

Inter Milan 1 (2) - (0) 0 AC Milan - Inter Milan progress 3-0 on aggregate

Martínez

Inter overcame their city rivals with a comfortable 3-0 aggregate score in the semi final to reach their first Champions League final since 2010 under Mourinho when they won the competition. It was Milan who looked more dangerous from the start this time, as Hernandez went close before Diaz then wasted a glorious opportunity. Leao then went close as Milan threatened, but Inter had their chances also. Dzeko forced a save and Barella had a good chance but was offside. Milan looked more accepting of defeat in the second half as Inter restricted their chances. Lukaku and Martínez linked up inside the box on 74 minutes before the Argentine applied a low finish to end the contest. Lukaku then forced a save late on as Inter fans celebrated their place in the final.

Wednesday 17th May 2023

Real Madrid 0 (1) - (1) 4 Manchester City - Manchester CIty progress 1- 5 on aggregate

Silva x2, Militao OG

A dominant opening period by City saw Haaland have a headed effort cleared off the line in the 13th minute as City piled the pressure on. Madrid could not get out of their own half, having only 32 passes in the opening 18 minutes. Haaland looked to have scored in the 21st minute when he headed towards the far corner, but Courtois produced a marvellous stretching save. City did open the scoring on 23 minutes when De Bruyne took two defenders out of the game with a lovely pass and Silva fired the ball home. City continued to dominate and in the 36th minute got their second. Grealish played the ball in from the left for Gundogan to shoot, and Silva was on hand to head home from the rebound. City kept up their dominance for the rest of the half and Madrid could not live with them. Real began the second half with more intent, with Alaba testing Ederson with a lovely free kick in the 52nd minute. While Real continued to cause problems around the City box, Pep's side were quick to hold possession once they got the ball. City continued with their masterclass and in the 76th minute an Akanji header went in off Militao to all but wrap up the game. Pep rung the changes with 12 minutes to go but Madrid still kept pressure on City, testing Ederson but the keeper was up to the task. It was City who had the final word though, as in the first minute of stoppage time Alvarez was picked out by Foden to make it four. In the end it seems the old legs in the Madrid midfield were unable to cope with Manchester City, and Pep's side deserved the win.

There we have it, Inter Milan will face off against Manchester City on the 10th of June 2023 in the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. Inter will be looking to win their 4th title in the competition, while City are aiming for that elusive first title and have to be considered favourites going into the final. However, that means nothing when it comes to the Champions League final.
