Good day everyone,

I hope you are all well and have had an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. Today I will be doing a recap on the UEFA Champions League Semi Final first leg results. With four teams left we are at the business end of the competition and each team will have a great belief of going on to lift the trophy in Istanbul next month.

Semi Final First Leg

Tuesday 9th May 2023

Real Madrid 1 - 1 Manchester City

Vinicius Júnior - De Bruyne

From the off City were in control of this one, peppering the Madrid goal and maintaining possession. However, for all their control, it was a moment of magic from Madrid which gave them the lead. Camavinga broke down the left before playing the ball to Vinicius Júnior, who struck a powerful shot beyond Ederson to open the scoring on 36 minutes. City were struggling, with Haaland well marshalled by Rudiger and Alaba. In the second half, City did manage to get back into the game on 67 minutes when Gundogan laid the ball off on the edge of the area for De Bruyne to smash home past Courtois. There were complaints the ball had gone out earlier in the play and the goal should have been ruled out, but to be fair Madrid did have control of the ball and gifted it back to City prior to their goal. Benzema forced a good save from Ederson late on with a header but this one ended in a draw, with a huge performance needed from both sides next week to make it into the final.

AC Milan 0 - 2 Inter Milan

Dzeko, Mkhitaryan

The Milan derby was the first in the Champions League since 2005, and this one saw Inter blow away their rivals with a superb start. It took all of eight minutes for Dzeko to get the opener, as he was free at a corner and struck a fierce volley into the back of the net. Three minutes later and Inter got their second, with an attack down the left ending up with Mkhitaryan, who whizzed through the Milan defence and scored in the bottom corner. Calhanoglu then struck the post as Inter continued to pile on the pressure, before Mkhitaryan saw a close range effort saved. Martinez won a penalty just after the half hour mark, but VAR and the referee overturned the call. Milan had chances in the second half, as Diaz curled an effort wide and Messias should have scored when through on goal. Tonali struck the post as nothing went right for Milan, and they have it all to do if they wish to make it to the final. The sides will meet once again next week in their shared stadium, and Milan will hope as the away side they can somehow overturn the result.
