Happy Friday everybody,
Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. Today we are going to look at the rewards and staking within the game Splinterlands, set on the HIVE network. The game itself comes with the added bonus of giving you a HIVE wallet upon signing up, which is also able to connect with Ethereum, Tron and WAX wallets. Logging in with keychain on your desktop makes the process even simpler to get started.

What is Splinterlands, SPS, the airdrop, and DEC?
Before we tackle the main issue at hand, which is of course the staking of your SPS, let's first take a quick look at what these tokens really are.
Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) - These are the main gaming token within the game. They are earned through winning battles primarily but can also be obtained via chests for completing quests, guild missions, and as part of the end-of-season rewards. These are represented by the purple crystal on the top right of the browser screen.
Splintershards (SPS) - The SPS are the official governance token of Splinterlands. Players holding these tokens will have the power to influence the direction in how the game evolves down the line, really making this a those who arrive early shall reap the most rewards. These are located to the right of the DEC on screen, and you need to click on your SPS to enter the staking and rewards screen.
The airdrop - Currently the creators of Splinterlands are taking part in a 365-day airdrop for all players of Splinterlands. At the time of writing this on Friday 10th of September, 45 days of airdrops have been completed so far. That's about 12% of the overall time span, so there is still plenty of SPS to be awarded.

Prior to Staking
Once you click on your SPS balance you will be brought to a screen as per the image below. The first thing to do is check your wallet for airdrop rewards balance and staking rewards. Your SPS wallet is represented on the left panel of the screen, and your main HIVE/ETH/WAX/TRX wallet is on the right panel.
You merely need to click the first green claim button on the right-side panel to claim your airdrop SPS. Only once you have claimed all your rewards and made them your liquid assets, should you proceed to stake them.

Staking and Unstaking
Similar to most staking systems, to stake your coins is one of the simplest things to do. Merely click the orange Stake button on the left-hand side panel, just below the Binance Smart Chain text.
Unstaking takes 4 weeks to complete as shown below. A painful process but it's how it is. Each week 25% of your staked coins are returned. To claim your staked rewards, similar to the airdrop rewards, you must claim them daily and add them to your staking total. The current APR is 123% but will decrease over time as more SPS gets distributed and more players join.

When it comes to online gaming, Splinterlands combines the fun of tabletop gaming with financial rewards. The benefit of earning DEC through playing the game and engaging in battles or claiming rewards, combined with the impressive staking rate of SPS, makes this an impressive opportunity to gain some big return. Hope you enjoyed the read, have a wonderful day.
