A new AI tool named Foresight is set to change how we predict and manage diseases. This tool uses advanced technology called generative pre-trained Transformers (GPTs), the same technology behind ChatGPT. Foresight creates digital twins of patients. Foresight started in the United Kingdom, where researchers trained the models using detailed medical records. They fed the system new healthcare data, which helped create these virtual patient duplicates. These digital twins can predict many health outcomes, from possible disease developments to future medication needs.

The scientific community is excited about the possibility of faster diagnoses. In tests with U.S. data, Foresight had an 88% accuracy rate in predicting the next medical conditions of patients. However, it was slightly less accurate with British data, achieving 68% and 76% accuracy in two NHS Trusts. Despite these differences, there is still a lot of hope for the technology.

James Tao, a lead researcher, sees Foresight as a way to explore different possibilities in disease understanding. These AI forecasts can look at any health disorder, giving valuable insights and exploring "what if" scenarios for personalized healthcare.
