A Comparison Between My Net Worth Now and a Month Ago

It’s been about a month since the last time I checked my net worth. Since I’m now a proper investor in Splinterlands – and no longer an active player – I thought it might be interesting to track the increases and decreases in the value of my assets.

This way, I can evaluate both the impacts of my investment strategy and the trends in the value of the cards and tokens I own. This might help me understand if I’m doing something wrong or identify areas where I can improve.

For this comparison – which I’ll try to do on a roughly monthly basis – I’ll compare the current values of my cards and tokens (SPS and DEC) to what they were a month ago. Based on the results, I’ll then try to draw some conclusions to see if there’s anything I can improve for the following month.

As always, I’ll divide the value of my assets into two main categories: cards and tokens.

NFTs

Using Peakmonsters, the value of my cards is currently about $116–$130.

Last month, the value of these same cards was about $161–$164.

As you can infer from the difference in my Collection Power, I sold some cards this month, but their value was quite low (around $3–$4), so that alone doesn’t account for the significant difference in the two amounts above. Currently, my collection has experienced an average value decrease of $40.

That’s a fairly significant drop, which I find somewhat concerning.

Tokens

Fortunately, the situation is a bit more positive when it comes to my tokens.

Currently, their total value amounts to $106.22.

Last month, their value was $107.83.

The sharp-eyed among you might notice an important difference: compared to a month ago, I now have almost 8,000 more DEC.

This means that the value of SPS has decreased, and I’ve managed to keep the total value of my tokens stable only thanks to some active efforts on my part, including:

• selling some cards (as mentioned above),
• rental income from my cards,
• a fortunate buy/sell transaction I completed a few days ago.

Without these factors, I would also have registered a decline in token value here.

A Bad Month?

If I calculate the current value of my Splinterlands net worth, it amounts to around $230, a decrease of about $40 compared to last month’s value.

The decline mainly affected the value of my cards but also impacted the SPS token value.

While renting out cards and trading on the market yielded some decent financial results, they weren’t enough to counter this price drop. The reason might simply be that it’s been a “bad” month for Splinterlands, with a general decrease in asset values.

If this trend continues next month, I’ll face a worrying situation, as passively watching my assets lose value doesn’t seem like an appealing prospect.

I hope this won’t be the case and that January will turn out to be a positive month for my asset values. To find out, I’ll have to wait for the next report!

Una Comparazione Fra il Valore del Mio Patrimonio Ora ed un Mese Fa

E' passato circa un mese dall'ultima volta che ho controllato il valore del mio patrimonio e, siccome ora su Splinterlands, sono un vero e proprio investitore - e non più un giocatore attivo - ho pensato che potesse essere interessante tenere traccia degli aumenti e diminuzioni di valore dei miei assets.

In questo modo posso sia valutare gli impatti della mia strategia di investimento che l'andamento del valore delle carte e tokens che possiedo: ciò potrebbe aiutarmi a capire se sto sbagliando qualcosa o se c'è una qualche area in cui posso fare meglio.

Per effettuare questa comparazione - che cercherò di fare a cadenza più o meno mensile - confronterò i valori che hanno attualmente le mie carte ed i miei tokens (SPS e DEC) con quelli che avevano un mese prima: a seconda del risultato cercherò poi di trarre qualche conclusione per capire se per il mese successivo posso provare a migliorare ciò che ho fatto fino a quel momento.

Come sempre dividerò il valore dei miei assets in due categorie principali: carte e tokens.

NFTs

Utilizzando Peakmonsters il valore delle mie carte risulta attualmente pari a circa 116/130 dollari.

Il mese scorso il valore di queste stesse carte era invece pari a circa 161/164 dollari.

Come è possibile dedurre dalla differenza nel mio Collection Power, questo mese ho venduto alcune carte, ma il loro valore era molto basso (3-4 dollari circa), per cui ciò da solo non è sufficiente a giustificare la forte differenza di valore che c'è tra i due importi sopra indicati: in questo momento la mia collezione ha infatti subito una diminuzione media di valore pari a 40 dollari.

Un importo abbastanza elevato e che trovo anche un po' preoccupante.

Tokens

Il discorso per fortuna è un po' più positivo per quanto riguarda i miei tokens.

Attualmente il loro valore complessivo ammonta infatti a 106.22 dollari.

Il mese scorso il loro valore era invece pari a 107.83 dollari.

I più attenti però forse avranno notato una differenza importante: rispetto ad un mese fa possiedo quasi 8.000 DEC in più.

Ciò significa che il valore degli SPS è sceso e che sono riuscito a mantenere invariato il valore totale dei miei tokens solo grazie ad operazioni che ho compiuto attivamente, ossia:

• la vendita di alcune carte (come dicevo sopra);
• la rendita derivante dal noleggio delle mie carte;
• una fortunata operazione di acquisto/vendita portata a termine qualche giorno fa

Se non fosse stato per questi fattori, anche qui avrei quindi registrato una diminuzione di valore.

Un brutto mese?

Se calcolo il valore attuale del mio patrimonio su Splinterlands questo risulta pari a circa 230 dollari, con una diminuzione di circa 40 dollari rispetto al valore del mese scorso.

La diminuzione ha riguardato principalmente il valore delle mie carte, ma anche quello del token SPS.

Il noleggio delle carte e agire sul mercato hanno prodotto alcuni buoni risultati finanziari che, però, sono stati insufficienti a contrastare questa diminuzione di prezzo: la ragione può essere dovuta semplicemente ad un "brutto" mese per Splinterlands, in cui gli assets hanno visto calare il loro valore in maniera generalizzata.

Se questa tendenza dovesse essere confermata anche il prossimo mese mi troverei di fronte ad una situazione preoccupante, dato che limitarmi a guardare i miei assets perdere di valore senza fare niente non mi sembra una prospettiva allettante.

La mia speranza è che ciò non accada e che il mese di gennaio si riveli un mese positivo per il valore dei miei assets: per scoprirlo dovrò però aspettare il prossimo report!
