Ages ago, fifteen years or so, I was quite excited about the Web and its opportunities and had enough free time to mess around it.
I'd launched several web projects expecting them to make a big shoot and to become the next Yahoo or Facebook. However, none of them ever did. Almost all my projects died sooner or later, lacking attention, dedication, and persistence from my side...
The only one that is still alive is a tiny website with several free PDF books. It's one of my earliest projects and it's so simple that hasn't required any special attention all over these years, I don't even remember when I updated it last time.
The days I launched that project, I also worked quite heavily with the TeX editor. In my free hours, using only TeX and friends, I created two books: Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Just for fun, to test my LATeX skills. If you have experience with LATeX, you will understand that making these books out of OCRs was a long tough job indeed. Over time the books have gained some "authority", they are even referred to in several academic papers. Up to now, these two Carroll's books is my best contribution to the Internet, and I will hardly ever do anything better.
"So what it has to do with crypto?", you might ask.
Well, I suddenly got the idea to upload my books at Lbry. And so I did, here you are:
Now I believe that even if my last standing project dies, my HDDs fail, all cloud filesharings clear all my content off like Google Books once did -- with blockchain technology, my two precious books still survive a bit longer and my daughter Alice will be able to read them some time (when she learns to talk, and then to read, and then to read in English).
