Often we found ourselves talking about Brave, the browser blockchain with high protection of the privacy of the users to whom the native BAT cryptocurrency is hooked, both because it is one of the few concrete successful use cases in the whole industry and because we consider BAT to be an excellent long-term investment; today we return to the topic because the company released, yesterday, a series of data that concretely demonstrate the success achieved on the market during this last year. First of all, the Brave Browser has almost doubled its monthly active users, going from € 5.5m in 2018 to € 10.4m today; this coincided with the release of the latest version, 1.0, which contributed to raising the user base by another 2.5 million people up to the current record of just over 10 million users. Even more impressive, however, is the increase in publishers enrolled in the brave reward program, whose number has soared 12 times. Currently, therefore, the verified publishers who are registered and who receive rewards in BAT for the advertisements displayed on the relevant sites amount to just under 350 thousand users, compared to just 30 thousand publishers registered at the beginning of 2019; if Brave were to continue with the current growth rate, then, it could get past a giant like google chrome in a few years, with heavy effects even on established circuits like adsense that would become less and less attractive for publishers.
On the other hand, the number of downloads on a monthly basis already clearly sees good prevail over its main competitors (firefox and chrome) and, if this trend were to continue also in the future, good risks being the first blockchain product to become truly mainstream; this allows us to glimpse a near future in which those that today seem to be indestructible giants will inevitably end up collapsing and being replaced by more successful and more technologically advanced blockchain products. This is already happening with browsers, soon we will see it happen also with search engines, with online comparators, aggregators and probably also with search engines, despite the dominance of google appears almost impossible to question. Even if today all this seems almost impossible, in fact, until even five years ago it seemed impossible that a new browser could endanger the dominance of firefox and google chrome; in short, however you want to think about it, regardless of whether you are crypto-enthusiasts or not, you need to be sure that we'll see some good ones in the next few years.
