Most of the articles written by professionals here on Publish0x have very good content and also excellent form (outline). But, I also see all kind of strange posts, so I am trying to write here few simple rules for doing accurate article writing.
When writing and publishing on a professional platform online such as Publish0x, the relationship between content and form is VERY important! You cannot just throw some words, improperly colored, centered, bolded when not needed, and so on!
Note that I am not a language professor or a writer by my carrier, but I have taught many teachers how to speak and write correctly, in both Romanian and English languages, so below are some simple basic tips for those who want to learn.
Verify Structure and Formatting
Before publishing your article for the planet to see it, please double check your work! As you've already put some time and effort into researching and writing the post - it’s always worth to take an extra time to make sure you’re getting your point across properly. So, you start with checking the post’s style of the writing, if it is appropriate for the subject matter. If not, you still have some work to do. Also, make sure that every word is in the right place, and that all of the formatting is correct. Sometimes, proper bolding, heading, justifying and gentle coloring text can make all the difference in how neat your article looks. DO NOT bold the entire article, never! Why bolding a good content and destroying its form?! Also, DO NOT center the main content of an article, headers yes, but not the whole writing!
Follow the Headline Formula
Be sure your headline grabs attention of readers and they will want to click on your post. In order to write great headlines, you need to follow a 3-step formula, make it:
- short,
- engaging, and
- descriptive.
Proofread X3
Lookout for any missing words, and for words used incorrectly; these mistakes can reflect how poor are you on writing and, of course, show lack of professionalism. Take enough time to proofread, try more techniques, and be sure you do not miss anything. If it is possible, reread your post and share it with friends and family to help find any mistakes. Also, use spelling and grammar checkers. If your native language is not English, Google translate can also help, but you must know basic rules of English language writing and speaking.
Add Images or Videos
No one likes to read through big portions of text, but all people enjoy visual things. Keep things interesting by adding images, graphics, videos, screenshots, charts, drawings, infographics, and more. Also, don’t forget that high quality stock images are nice, but the originals are far better. Do not forget to add the source of the image and attribute it to the author, if this is required.
Your Field of Knowledge
Your audience online is global, so remember the context and trends. If you publish a professional article that is not common and people may or may not understand it, then try to explain more, in detail, so that everyone will get it.
If It Is Bad, Destroy It!
Understand the most basic principle of the Internet: what you publish online might end up staying there forever, as people will link to it, quote it, copy it, screenshot it, etc. If you are about to publish some content that you might regret later, fix it first or do not publish it at all.
