Two Crypto Games, One Roof

Two Crypto Games, One Roof

The crypto world is full of layers, and right now we are seeing two very different types of players using the same platform called Pendle, but playing completely different games. On one side are retail investors jumping into pools that offer extremely high yields, like an 89% annual rate on tUSDe pools. These are the flashy opportunities that appeal to everyday traders looking for quick profits by farming yields. This activity is easy to understand and attracts a wide range of people who want fast returns from what’s basically a tokenized stablecoin farming game.

On the other side is a much quieter but more complex market building up around Boros, a platform working with Pendle to handle something called funding rate trading. Here, advanced traders and institutions are quietly putting in about $10 million of open interest into specialized trading vaults. These vaults let them speculate on or hedge against the funding rates that exist in bigger crypto derivatives markets. Instead of chasing quick yields, these players use Boros to manage risk and engage in sophisticated strategies that turn yield streams into tradable assets. This activity requires a deep understanding of the market and focuses on steady, capital-efficient growth rather than hype.

Both the retail yield farming and the advanced funding rate trading happen on Pendle but show how diverse the crypto space is. The first game is simple and fast-moving, while the second is strategic and complex. What really highlights the importance of this second game is the involvement of Ethena, a risk management protocol that uses Pendle’s tools for managing leveraged positions and collateral. When a protocol like Ethena starts using Pendle, it signals that this market has grown up and is now ready for institutional-level strategies.

Pendle is hosting two very different crypto games at once: one focused on retail traders chasing high yields through simple token pools, the other on sophisticated traders quietly building large, risk-managed trading vaults. Both are thriving but serve different purposes and players. This shows how crypto markets continue to evolve in multiple directions all at the same time, with room for everyone to play and win their own way. Understanding these parallel markets is key to seeing the full picture of today’s crypto landscape.
