Y’all there’s a major revolution going on in the gaming world right now with this Play-to-Earn (P2E) craze. My fingers have literally gone numb and my eyes drilling my skull but hey! I’m not complaining! Like I get to play P2E games and earn cryptocurrency?! Somebody pinch me! Where have I been?
The lines between entertainment and earning is getting blurred big time and I’m not getting left behind.
Some of the things driving Play-to-Earn are:
- In-Game Assets Ownership- The blockchain tech, NFTs allows players who have true ownership of their in-game assets to trade in marketplaces in form of cryptocurrencies.
- Through Gameplay: P2E games has different options for people to earn crypto. From quests, to vs battles, to rearing and selling rare in-game creatures. Depending on how good you are and how dedicated, you’ll earn some crypto.
- Staking: There’s a shift in the power dynamic of P2E games unlike the traditional games, players are empowered with a stake in the game’s economy. This allows the players to be more engaged and invested.
However, just like almost anything else in this world, when there’s a pro there’s a con!
The market flunctuations can impact your potential earnings significantly! It’s a volatile market.
Some games require you to invest first by purchasing characters or assets that you’ll need to play the game. This is a complete turn off especially for new players like me.
Also, there are some games that have people staking a lot of money to earn more dominating the entire thing. In these cases, I shake with envy and wish I’m a ju-jitsu witch.
But I look forward to the future of P2E games. In fact, I recently ordered my game pads, because I’m ready for this tug of war!
Games are going to become more enjoyable, with storylines and stuff. I’ve come across a few in the works already and I’m genuinely eager.
There might even be programs that allow players who don’t have the capital to invest to participate in the P2E ecosystem.
The blockchain-based P2E games is really an exciting development that would take over the gaming industry.
