Holy crap now that's a huge adoption step. This was announced on 23.09.21 around 7 PM so it's a fresh thing. Reports say it will be available first on iOS, later also on Android. Tipping functionality will be using Lightning Network to process payments so this might give you some estimates about how expensive it will be. For sure it will be much cheaper and faster than direct BTC transactions. I guess that if Lightning network can hold countries it can also hold social media ;)
It is worth noting, that Twitter will NOT take a cut of the tips and will not be an intermediary between tipping and tipped. It will be operated by third parties. This is a very generous model to implement on social media platform and very supportive for the community.Β
But it gets even better - Twitter will also allow its users to authenticate NFTs. The feature will make it possible for users to have verified NFT avatars. The "verified profile will never be the same ;) In my opinion this is the first solid answer to "how a non-gaming NFT is better than a .jpeg" - even if it is only granted you by private company, but this is the first big "right" you will now have as a NFT owner.Β
This is a short post, as the news did not contain much additional info and I don't have time to artificially inflate this content as I'm in a hurry to hunt some cat-avatar NTF right now. π±βπ

This is not a financial advice β Iβm no financial adviser, nor is this a legal advice β although Iβm a lawyer. This is no advice at all, seriously, donβt take advice from random cats β the Internet is full of them! DYOR!
