CEO Of Brave Browser Apologises For Affiliate Link Adding

By Zemiatin | crypto1 | 9 Jun 2020

A lot of criticism went towards Brave Browser in the last couple of days after a twitter user showed how when he typed binance.us in the Brave search bar, the browser was autocompleting the link turning into a referral code for Binance.

In a tweet from 6th June, Brendan Eich acknowledged the problem and apologised stating that even though they are indeed a Binance Affiliate autocomplete should not add any new code in the adress bar.

"Sorry for this mistake - we are clearly not perfect, but we correct course quickly" Brendan Eich also added.

At the same time, Brave reported a more than 100% active user increase in the last year, having now more than 15 million active users each day, 1/3 of them using the Brave Browser each day. Also, in a recent podcast, Joe Rogan advocated the use of Brave Browser.

Even though a lot of people in the community are very unhappy about the whole issue, I personally think the acknowledgement of the issue and the fact that they are trying to fix it shows signs of good leadership, at least from Brendan Eich.
