This Week I've Found My 1000th Follower On Publish0x!

I'm usually not too adamant on making these kind of A Look Back-articles. This week, though, I've hit a really huge milestone for myself. I've found my 1000th follower on Publish0x and I feel like that should warrant an article looking back on how 2020 went for me on Publish0x and also detail a bit where I want to head from there. A fair warning before we move on, though. While there might still be some tips and hints burrowed within, this article is going to be mostly introspective.

It was some time back in February when I first found out about Publish0x. At first, I saw it as yet another faucet which I would simple (ab)use for the meager daily rewards I could get from blindly voting 6 articles each day. After a while, I accidentally started to read some of the articles and found them to be rather helpful in times. I still did not really intend to write anything myself, but after the Corona lockdown hit, I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands and nothing worthwhile to do with it.

So I applied as an author and was admitted a day later. Writing my first article took a lot of time and I almost quit doing it several times. Sometimes I was just staring at the words and tried to make any sense of them. I'm not a native and I mostly regarded the blogging as an excuse to practice my English writing skills. I feel like I have improved a lot on this end. While any native speaker will probably still be able to determine that I'm not, my writing comes a lot easier and I've picked up some tricks from the different authors I follow.

When I finally published my first article, I did not really expect much from it. For reasons still unknown to me, though, it went through the roof at once. Up until today, it has 4,786 Views, 199 Upvotes, and earned me a total of 10.04$. I'm still not sure how Publish0x determines which article is sent to Popular and how long it stays there, but it seems like the algorithm does like my articles. Of all the articles I've written, only about ~10% did not make it to Popular.

In terms of earning, I'm quite happy with what I achieved in the 8 months that I'm actively publishing on Publish0x. Sadly, the Lifetime earnings only show the tokens currently still paid out, so the earnings from LCR and DAI are missing on that list. My total earnings in the last 30 days amounted to 39.37$ and I have to say, 40$/month is a pretty nice extra. Now obviously, if you factor in the amount of time spent on writing these articles, the earnings per hour are rather small, but I'm okay with that. Doing these articles is a hobby first of all and anything earned is just a bonus. On top of that, all articles are published to LeoFinance as well, which effectively almost triples my income from these articles.

In total, I've written 91 articles, so that's about 11 articles per month. In the beginning I was a little afraid that I would run out of content to write about eventually, but somehow this never has been an issue so far. Quite the opposite actually! I've started to keep a separate list for topics that I want to write about some time which keeps growing as new stuff comes to my mind.

Generally speaking, basically all my articles have been about crypto gaming or crypto in general. I'm a gamer by heart so this is only logical. That said, though, I intend to widen the topics I talk about a bit and start writing on other financial and economic topics as well. I started to do so by writing about the concept of passive income which incidentally is also my article with the most views ever. Right now, it has 6,177 views and received 270 likes.

I'd also love to write more about non-crypto gaming but I'm not sure whether there's an audience for that or not. So if you are still reading this and would even like me to write an article about some other games I'm playing, please leave me a comment and I might very well consider it.

Anyway, to tell the truth, I'm really blown away by the success I had on Publish0x. I came in with zero expectations, not really knowing how long this blogging stuff would keep me occupied. Today, I couldn't imagine not doing it any longer. There's a lot to be said about whether Publish0x or LeoFinance is the better site for your daily blogging needs (and I have that on my list of things I want to talk about next), but Publish0x is where it all started for me. So even though I consider LeoFinance to be my home on the internet, I'll always be grateful to Publish0x.

So I really just want to say Thank you! to everybody who gave me a follow, read my articles, or even gave me the occasional upvote. I'm really grateful for it and I'm more than looking forward to many more articles and comments in the future. Please excuse this very introspective article and I hope to still you all next time. Cheers!
