Hello and welcome to a new blog.
I've named it Crypto Rap Lyrics because I write about crypto, but I also like rap music.
Many, many, many years ago - way before all of this started - I actually began writing rap lyrics. For fun.
So I thought it would be fun to combine these two things.
How does it work? So basically every week (hopefully more than once a week), I'll pick a song I like (usually rap music) and rewrite the lyrics - on the same melody - using this week's news as inspiration.
I've already talked about the FTX fiasco using Eminem's Lose Yourself as a base, Celebrity NFTs using Love Me by Drake, and Crypto.com's business model using P.I.M.P by 50 Cent & Snopp Dogg.
Today I'm going to talk about BlockFi using Stan by Eminem and Dido as a base.
In the first part, the chorus by Dido, I play myself, a user whose funds (fortunately not a lot) are stuck in BlockFi.
In the second part, the first verse by Eminem, I basically 'translate' the emails I got from BlockFi into rap lyrics
My tea's gone cold I wonder why I got this app at all,
the morning mail clogs up my gmail,
and that's when push came to shove,
and even if other CEXs complain,
the lesson is never learned,
it reminds me, if it's not your keys, then it's not your crypto
"Dear user, we regret to write this email in this form,
you gave us your data, your ID as per the law,
we sent a lot emails in the past, you probably read them all,
including when we asked you to bring some of your friends on board,
sometimes we even asked you invest more to earn some more,
but anyways, fcuk it, what's been up, man? how's your balance?
we had some cash in FTX so you know, it ain't roses and flowers,
I know you probably hear this every day, but your funds are safe,
we operate with the utmost security standards in place,
we even survived through the Terra Luna craze,
anyway, I hope you're well, tell us how it goes,
just to chat, and by the way, withdrawals are PAUSED.
truly yours, signed BlockFi corpse"
