I was going through the list of popular DApps on SUI and came across a game called Fishing Star. I decided to check it out as there SUI blockchain is getting a lot of attention these days and many projects running on SUI have started giving out airdrops. The recent airdrop of $DEEP was worth in the range of $1,000 to $2,000 for many of the recipients.
My initial plan was to just interact a bit with the game so I am eligible for any future airdrop. What I did not expect was that this game will turn out to be so addictive that I am completely hooked on to it.
A good thing is that the game is designed in a way that you can’t play for more than a few minutes a day. After that your baits will be finished which refreshes after 24 hours.
How is the Gameplay of Fishing Star?
The gameplay is very simple and straightforward. The main NFT of the game is fishing rods and you get more advanced fishing rods as you progress further in the game. As you fish more you get more points which can be used to level up your fishing rod. An advanced fishing rod improves your chances of catching a rarer fish.
Once you have used up your bait limit of the fishing rod which can be 7 to 15 depending on your rod type you need to wait for 24 hours for your bait to replenish so you can fish again. This is a good control for me as else I would have been playing this game non stop all day. Don’t remember the last time I was so fascinated by a NFT based blockchain game.
The game is completely free to play and only requires gas fees when you start it. Considering it is on SUI that gas fees is less than $0.01.
If you play regularly you unlock more rewards so playing streaks get you bonus points. Slowly you unlock more fishing areas and each area comes with a new set of fish that you can catch.
It seems like a Japanese dev is behind the project as I could not find many social groups related to this game. There is just a Twitter/ X handle which is completely in Japanese. I wish they spend some more efforts in marketing the game as it is really an enjoyable game and has the potential to grow big.
What are the Chance of an Airdrop?
Like all things in crypto there is no absolute guarantee of anything. We can never be 100% sure of an airdrop but I personally think the chances are good as this is NFT based blockchain game so once they expand and start in-game currency they will surely do an airdrop. Also this game is promoted by SUI as when you open SUI wallet and go to the apps section you can see the link for this game, so chances of this being legit long term are good.
