Crypto Hits & Misses of 2021, Lessons learnt for 2022

Crypto Hits & Misses of 2021, Lessons learnt for 2022

I am writing after a really long time as I was tied up with too many thing in parallel related to my crypto and non crypto life. There are so many things I want to write about but for now I will focus on sharing the highlights of how has been the year 2021 for me and what is going to be my plan for 2022.

As always there were many things happening with my crypto portfolio that I was really grateful for and there some disasters as well. I can’t complain as if you are not facing some flops it means you are playing too safe which is never a good strategy in crypto.

Big Hits of my Crypto Journey in 2021

I will start on a positive note by talking about which have been the best performing moves I made during 2021.

  1. Accumulating Bitcoin: If you have been reading my previous posts you would have noticed that I was a BTC maximalist for a large part of my crypto journey and it continues to be the biggest part of my portfolio. I continue in my resolve of never selling my BTC and will hold it till the day it goes mainstream and it becomes as widely used as cash and credit cards. 2021 saw BTC rise from $30K levels early in the year to almost hit the $70K mark (touched $69K briefly) and at the time of writing this it is hovering around 47K. I continue to be super bullish on BTC and expect it to scale even higher in the coming year.

  2. Joining the NFT Bandwagon: Until mid 2021 I was very apprehensive about value of NFTs and found it absurd that people were willing to invest so much in JPEGs. Once I joined the Telegram and Discord groups of some of the popular projects I realised why it was gaining so much popularity and why most crypto veterans were vouching for its success in the coming years. I found many NFT projects that I plan to diamond hand but I will not go in too much details and just mention a select few which I have already written in great details previously.

i) MOBOX- This has been the best performer for me this year and has generated unexpected levels of passive income. I consider myself lucky to have joined this project right from its early days in April 2021 which gave me a chance to gain a low cost entry and benefit from the crazy high reward rates during the early months. It continues to generate over $100 a day in passive income every day. In case you missed my previous post on this you can refer this link- https://www.publish0x.com/crypto-projects-sams-reviews/mobox-this-nft-game-is-all-set-to-explode-xykryey

ii) NEBULA- This was another project which I joined right from the start so I was able to gain a low cost entry. I think this is still a hidden gem and will explode during the the coming months. I have written several posts on this project- https://www.publish0x.com/crypto-projects-sams-reviews/project-nebula-this-nft-game-is-simply-mind-blowing-xqmmgvg

iii) Stacked Toadz- This was probably the luckiest I have ever been with regards to timing the price movement as I was able to buy right around the lowest level of 0.12 ETH and sell right at the top of 3 ETH. I used the gains to invest in projects I was bullish long term and also the flip transactions later helped me get a higher allocation in $SOS and $GAS airdrops.

iv) Lazy Lions- I think most of the early NFT projects which have proven their stability in 2021 will be worth even higher in the future. The challenge was most these blue chips like CryptoPunks and BAYC were already way out of my buying capacity. I finally selected Lazy Lions which was still available at the floor of 1 ETh and I strongly believe it will one of the top performers in the coming years.

v) Voxel Ville- This is a small new project which I am super bullish on long term. It’s current floor is at 0.08 ETH and I keep accumulating more and more whenever I get some extra funds.

  3. Airdrops- This year I received several big airdrops like $SOS, $RADAR, $GAS, however I have decided to alter my strategy a bit for $SOS and plan to hold it long term. I normally see airdrops as bonus free money meant to be splurged immediately and I always spend 60-90% of the airdrop as soon as I get and that’s what I did previously with Uniswap and AmpleForth airdrops. I am really impressed by the team behind $SOS and their planned vision for the DAO. Let’s see how this decision plays out in coming years.

Now let’s go the big bloopers of 2021 and I will not dwell too much in detail as I don’t want to spoil my mood on the eve of new year.

  1. Viking Swap Rug pull- I tried out several DeFI farming projects this year and some gave decent returns and some more modest return. One project I will not forget is Viking Swap as this rugged farm cost me most of the gains I made in other projects.
  2. Pawzee NFT Rug pull- I put a part of the gains made from Stacked Toadz into Pawzee which I consider a sunk cost now. Well you can’t get all the shots right.
  3. Missed ENS Airdrop- I usually manage to be eligible for most airdrops I like to experiment in everything related to crypto. I somehow always postponed the decision of buying a ENS name as I would keep moving the ETH I would accumulate into buying NFTs. This made me miss out on the ENS airdrop which was one of the biggest airdrops of 2021.

Looking at all the hits and misses of 2021 the biggest take way for 2022 is that we are still very early in crypto and it is worth to take as many risks as you can. The rewards you get from being involved in the right project is way higher than facing the few rug pulls on the way. Plus the experience you gain on the way makes you smarter to avoid most of similar scams in future.

Wish you all a great year ahead.

Cheers,

Sam
