It took over two years. And, no, I didn't buy any, much as I was tempted to.

For those who are unfamiliar with FreeBitcoin, it is a long-running faucet, with many extra features, such as interest paid on balances greater than 30,000 satoshis, and many gambling opportunities.

For me, the main attraction of FreeBitcoin is its simple interface for an hourly payout. No shortlink and just one captcha to complete. The lucky number for payouts seems honest as I get a larger than usual about 1% of the time.

Over two years ago, FreeBitcoin introduced its FunFair (FUN) token and a premium membership. By buying and holding 2500 FUN tokens, additional benefits were available, such as increased interest on BTC holdings, more Wheel-of-Fortune spins, and cash back on some wagers.

About the same time, FreeBitcoin introduced ways to redeem their Reward Points (RPs). One of those ways was to earn FUN tokens for every free roll for a 24-hour period. That was my path to collecting 2500 FUN tokens for a premium membership without buying any.

I have been using FreeBitcoin's faucet since 2014 so I had accumulated a lot of RPs. I started redeeming them to collect FUN tokens for each free roll. I discovered I could collect between 10 and 16 FUN tokens in the active 24-hour period, depending on how well I remembered to do the free roll each hour.

I didn't get anywhere near 2500, just a little over 600. But that was a start. Next, I took advantage of FreeBitcoin's offer to pay 15% interest on my FUN tokens if I locked them up for 90 days. In hindsight, I should have locked them up for a longer period and earned more interest.

I also stopped ignoring FreeBitcoin's emails, because they contained a free spin of their Wheel-of-Fortune. The Wheel-of-Fortune pays out satoshi, RPs, and lottery tickets, along with some other prizes (which I have never won). I would win enough RPs to redeem for FUN tokens on the free rolls. The satoshis I won didn't hurt, either.

My formula for accumulating FUN tokens is thus:

1. Collect RPs from the free rolls and the Wheel-of-Fortune spins

2. Redeem to RPs to get FUN tokens for each free roll

3. Lock up the FUN tokens for interest when I have accumulated about 500

4. Lock up any FUN tokens whose lock up period has completed

5. Repeat until 2500 FUN tokens have been accumulated.

I should have locked up my FUN tokens for twelve months, instead of 90 days, to earn 25% interest, but I underestimated the rate at which I would accumulate FUN tokens. But it still worked out. It just took a while longer.

The initial benefit of having 2500 FUN tokens are getting a free spin of the Wheel-of-Fortune each day and not having to complete a captcha on the free roll. An unadvertised bonus was having my hourly free roll reward increased from 5 satoshis to 7, maybe a 50% boost, rounded down.

I've started on accumulating 5000 FUN tokens by locking up my 2500 FUN tokens for 360 days at 25%. Holding 5000 FUN tokens will give me more free spins, along with some other benefits I don't need, such as cash back on wagers. I'm also working on stacking 30,000 satoshis, which, once accumulated, will earn 4.08% APY.

With the free spins and the increased hourly payout, FreeBitcoin is rising to the top of my faucet list, letting me stack satoshis faster.
