How exactly do these PixelJourney NFTs on WAX blockchain work?

Glad You Asked, Here's How It Works

The PixelJourney Pixals involve a combination of benefits for holders, many of which are going to manifest over time and some rather shortly. Those include:

• Holding awards based on traits
• Special features (WaxRocks, Pets, etc.)
• And something else...?  YES!

Holding Your Pixals

First and foremost, simply keeping Pixal NFTs and not selling them or separating them from your WAX account makes a holder eligible for a rotating possibility of trait awards. Each Pixal has a certain combination of traits. These are visible on the background data for the given NFT. If you're looking at the NFT in a gallery, it's going to show up looking like this:

Using the example above, this Pixal displayed has traits of color, specific eye types, background (lack of it), matching flames from the side of the head features, no glasses, and clothing. No special features exist on this one, so they show as "None." If it turns out that next trait award includes PFPs with Red Flames, this then Pixal NFT will be allocated a set amount of PXJ as a trait award from PixelJourney to the same WAX account address holding the PFP.

Since the trait criteria changes with each round, different Pixal PFPs will get rewards at different times. No surprise, accounts with a large portfolio have a greater spread and chance of winning regular awards than those with only a few Pixals. Even better, those with rare features may end up with the lion's share of a given trait award too.

In detail, traits include 10 trait groups:

• Background
• Head
• Mouth
• Eyes
• Body
• Glasses and Masks
• Hats and Hair
• Special Accessories
• WaxRock (special feature)
• PixalPet (special feature)

Special Features

The first and probably most important special Pixal feature, as well as the rarest, is the WaxRock. This is seen on a Pixal PFP with the following:

Not only does the holder still get trait benefits, the WaxRock Special Feature is extremely rare and hard to find. The rarity alone makes the NFT skyrocket in collector value on the secondary market. However, more importantly, it provides the holder the ability to have a role in the PixelJourney Project governance by being a member of the WaxRock Council. Working with the project lead and team, the Council will vote and direct the Project as it develops further into the future.

The second special feature involves Pets. These critters show up on special versions of the Pixals and appear on the right shoulder of the image, as shown here:

The exact benefits of pets are yet to be discussed, but they are expected to be considerable as well.

Other Benefits

Pixal holders will also be eligible for the following:

• Getting a XP boost on our Discord server (access to special channels). This helps with reaching higher levels for access faster.
• Getting exclusive early/bonus access to certain areas of our community (Discord). Pixalholders get a special role allocated to them in the community.
• Automatic monthly holder airdrop giveaway chances (mentioned above with traits).
• More of our sweet stable $PXJ and rewards from all across the ecosystem!
• An opportunity to explore the whole space with the best fellow Pixals around (that would be us, hehe)!
