Introduction
The GetZen.Cash Faucet had been one of my favourite and most reliable faucets for years and together with Global Hive (powered by GameStation) and Pipeflare.io, it was completing a rather successful trifecta of faucets that I have been using faucet donations in ZEN, ZCash and Polygon.
What was the GetZen.Cash Faucet ?
The GetZen.Cash Faucet, a Zen Faucet was a faucet powered by Horizen Global an internet platform that developed HORIZEN ($ZEN) Layer 0 protocol and public blockchain. Launched in 2017, Horizen Global is the most secure interoperable blockchain ecosystem supported by the largest and most decentralized node infrastructure in the industry. In fact, Horizen Global's sidechain platform focuses on scalable data privacy and enables businesses and developers to custom build their own public or private blockchains using its unique sidechain technology, Zendoo.
In the Horizen Community Hub, the user was given the possibility to claim free Zen every 20 hours after solving a quick captcha and the funds were being collected in the recommended native Mobile Zen Wallet or in a desktop wallet called SPHERE BY HORIZEN. Special instructions for the verification of the Zen wallet address were given on the site and afterwards the user was able to withdraw the faucet earnings there and earn an extra 50% (1.5x) bonus in every faucet claim. It should be well highlighted that only the recommended native Zen wallet could have been used for the withdrawal of the funds from the GetZen.Cash faucet as no other Zen address can be verified, especially the ones from a crypto-exchange platform. The GetZen.Cash faucet included various multipliers that increased the amount of $ZEN earned from the faucet such as the Social Media connect program, the use of Brave browser (20% multiplier), the Hodl Zen program, a Referral Program and a Daily Bonus program for everyday claims.
GetZen.Cash Migration to Pipeflare.io
Recently, GetΖen.Cash announced that it is migrating into Pipeflare.io, terminating a successful circle of faucet donations in Zen cryptocurrency. It also requested its users to signup with Pipeflare.io with the same email (within 72 hours since the announcement) and get a bonus of +4 gems and 5000 2FLR tokens which is Pipeflare's native token for in-platform purchases.
That was a great shock as GetZen.Cash had been one of the most reliable and successful faucets that I have ever used and earned almost 0.32893945 ZEN including 0.05181494 ZEN from the GetZen.Cash Referral Program but also from my FaucetCrypto withdrawals as I have already mentioned in my article "Celebrating Level 200 on FaucetCrypto", which it might not be a huge amount but it was worthy to collect them for free.
As I explain in my website cryptomonkey.weebly.com, Pipeflare.io is a crypto Gaming platform, where the user can earn various cryptocurrencies such as ZCash (ZEC), Polygon (MATIC), Flares (FLR) and in the past Dogecoins (DOGE) and DASH (DASH) and play a great selection of games such as FLARE HIT and BEATBOX by Pipeflare Gaming and FLARE JUMP by Zombie Soup. These games can be described as the classic cases of “incredibly simple, super addictive” games that can reward you with some extra crypto DAI coins at the same time.
Personal Thoughts
Unfortunately, 1 month after the announcement and the retirement of the GetZen.Cash faucet, there is no yet any integration so far either of my Zen coins or the faucet into the Pipeflare.io platform and it is unknown when it is going to happen. Is it gonna happen by next year? Within 2024 ? or NEVER ? Who knows ?
Honestly I am not sure yet the main reasons beyond its decision and several questions have risen in my mind already for this decision.
Was the migration a request from Pipeflare.io in order to reinforce the popularity of its Gaming platform or the cost of retaining the GetZen.Cash faucet for the Horizen Global started to become less sustainable or interesting ?
More interestingly, what would happen with the funds collected on the ZEN Wallet and even better is it still worthy to collect them there or start withdrawing them into another wallet for example MyCointainer.com (an Estonian-based microwallet) that offers 5.78% interest on the Zen funds?
A New Faucet ?
In his article "Introducing Horizen DAO And Sending $ZEN to Horizen EON" my good friend PVM talked about the introduction of several innovations and partnerships of Horizen Global to support and develop several operations and functions of the Horizen blockchain including a Horizen DAO, the introduction of Horizen EON sidechain and a new $TFC Faucet connected not this time to specialised ZEN Wallet that I have mentioned above but to user's non-custodial wallet such as Metamask. Still, I am not a supporter of DAOs because the founders of the Protocol are ALWAYS the decision-makers of the IPs (Improvement Proposals) leaving only a small portion of the governance Tokens to the rest of the stakeholders who falsely believe they participate in the decision making. However, curiosity killed the cat, I was lured to examine the $TFC Faucet but guess what !?
Since the transaction took place on my non-custodial wallet, I was asked to pay 0.00272603 ZEN for the transaction !!! Why should I do that? Just for participating in the DAO ? It is like exchanging my hardly earned $ZEN for $TFC !!!
