Choosing a hardware wallet for your crypto assets is one of the most important steps in your crypto journey. This is why I review here all the best devices currently on the market and today I have the brand new Ellipal Titan 2.0 BTC-only edition. It's just been launched and I’m here to scrutinize it and give you my detailed review.
This new device is one of the most secure hardware wallets, designed to store and manage your Bitcoin holdings. It is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Ellipal Titan, and boasts several new features that make it stand out from other hardware wallets in the market.
Overview
The Ellipal Titan 2.0 BTC-Only is a limited edition dedicated hardware wallet, specifically designed for Bitcoin, which makes it even more secure as it limits the points of failure that can be exploited when there’s multi-chain operability. If you’re a Bitcoin maxi, or if like myself, you just want to store your Bitcoin for the longer term and want to get a wallet that is airgapped, with the latest and most robust security, this one fits the bill perfectly.
It’s one of many wallets in my collection, I’ve reviewed all the best devices on the market and continue to do so as new ones are being released, so make sure to follow my content.
Also, you can download my free eBook where I review all the top cold and hot wallets - I talk about the pros and cons of each of them, so you can make the right choice for you.
Design & Build
The material used here is a durable metal casing, providing excellent protection against physical and supply chain attacks. It has anti-tamper and anti-disassembly features to ensure that the device cannot be opened without leaving visible damage and the main advantage here is that this wallet is air-gapped, which means it remains completely isolated from the internet, safeguarding it from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malware.

With a 4-inch touchscreen, all operations are easily accessible, making it very user-friendly. The size is comparable to a mobile phone, fitting comfortably in my hand. It’s just 120g, so not too heavy at all. It strikes a balance between being portable and large. The device includes a 5MP autofocus camera that is needed to scan QR codes for transaction approvals, as there are no USB or Bluetooth connectivity options. This QR code system enhances security, requiring a scan only when sending Bitcoin. You don’t need it for receiving. There’s also a mobile app that you will use and when receiving coins you only need to get your wallet address from the app, you don’t have to even turn on the device. You can also monitor your balance in the app, it will sync with the data from the blockchain without the device, so you can see when a transaction is coming in and you only need the device when you’re sending Bitcoin out.
The device comes with a USB-C cable for charging and a micro SD card for firmware updates. The charging cable does not connect to computers or phones, as it strictly serves to power the device. The upgrade process involves downloading the firmware to the SD card, which is then inserted into the device for installation.
Security
Security is paramount with the Ellipal brand and they have other devices, like the Titan Mini, which is also airgapped. The air-gapped design ensures that the wallet is always offline, making remote hacking virtually impossible. The anti-tamper features include a self-destruct mechanism that deletes all private keys if a forced break-in is detected, thus protecting against physical attacks. If this scares you, let me explain. I remember someone asking me why is this a good feature last year - they were worried that with the self-destruct in place, they might lose their funds. It’s actually not quite so. The main thing to remember is that you HAVE to protect your seed recovery phrase and you will never lose access to your accounts. If this device malfunctions or gets damaged, lost or self-destructs due to a forced entry, all you need is that seed phrase and you can get any other device and import your seed phrase there and you will get into your accounts. In fact, since I gathered quite a lot of devices over the years, I use the same seed phrase with more than one device. Two, sometimes three devices are synced with the same seed phrase, so I can access my accounts on multiple devices at the same time. If one gets damaged or lost, I just pick another one. This is also why the most important thing that you have to worry about is your seed phrase, not the device itself. I use metal plates for protection and storage of my seed phrases and Ellipal has a great product on offer, this one here, called Ellipa Seed Steel. It’s like a mini briefcase where you insert the seed words and this way they are protected from fire, flooding and other physical damage. I can’t stress enough how important it is to safeguard the seed, so please don’t ignore this product, it is a must.
As for the device itself, you really have no problem when it comes to its security.
It’s equipped with a secure element rated EALC5+, a tamper-resistant chip that securely stores private keys and performs cryptographic operations, further enhancing its defences against physical threats. It really is a bulwark against physical, supply chain attacks, and evil maid attacks, ensuring your assets remain secure.

Compatibility
As a Bitcoin-only device, the Ellipal Titan 2 BTC Only focuses exclusively on Bitcoin transactions.
While it doesn’t support other cryptocurrencies or NFTs, it simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need for multi-coin management. This makes it an excellent choice for Bitcoin purists. When I first heard of Bitcoin-only devices, I wasn’t sure what’s the appeal.
Why would you want to limit yourself to just Bitcoin?
Surely there will be at least some altcoins that you might want to store on the device, right?
Well, it turns out that there are plenty of people like me, who don’t care much for altcoins in the long run. I always exit all my altcoin positions when I see a bear cycle starting, and only keep my Bitcoin in a bear cycle. This means I have several wallets that only store Bitcoin. And one of the advantages of Bitcoin-only wallets is that with fewer features and a simplified codebase, they offer faster transaction times and more responsive interfaces compared to the multi-coin devices that have loads of features, defi interoperability, NFT support and so on. Also, since the wallet only interacts with the Bitcoin blockchain, the attack surface is reduced compared to multi-coin wallets. This can provide an extra layer of security for long-term Bitcoin storage.
Ease Of Use
The wallet features a user-friendly interface and a large touchscreen, making it easy to navigate. Setting up the device takes just five minutes, and firmware updates can be completed in about three minutes. While operating via QR codes may feel unfamiliar to some, the process is quick and straightforward—you just scan the QR code and approve a transaction. And with this being a Bitcoin only device, the reduced codebase and single-coin focus make it easier for users to audit and verify the security of it, providing more transparency and trust.
As I mentioned, you navigate this device via its dedicated smartphone App which just had an upgrade that includes support for Native Segwit addresses, makes the process of creating or importing accounts easier and significantly increased the speed of token price updating, plus some bug fixes. Whether you’re using this device or the standard, multi-chain device, you’ll find that the app is really well-designed and has a ton of functions, including trading and token swaps between various chains, DeFi operations, NFTs support and much more. The app supports over 10,000 tokens and coins but this device is Bitcoin only, so it will be used only with one blockchain, of course. If you want to see my review of the standard Titan 2 that supports all the other networks and tokens, get the link from the description below, and it will also pop up at the end of this one, so stay tuned.
Pricing
The Ellipal Titan 2 BTC Only is priced at $199.00, with free worldwide shipping if you buy a second product, which is great, because you want to add the steel case for seed protection. This price point is a little higher than the standard device, which is $169 and that’s because this is a limited edition, there are less of these in production, so they cost more. I have a discount link that gives you $5 discount, which I know, is not much, but it’s something. Also, if you have any other hardware wallets, you can get a 20% discount by sending a photo of your previous wallets. This is a good discount.
And on top of this, Ellipal offers a worry-free return policy. You can return the device within 30 days of delivery if there’s anything you’re not happy with. They also provide free inspections and repairs within 12 months, ensuring that any returned products are destroyed to maintain security.

IN SUMMARY:
All in all, I find that the Ellipal Titan 2 Bitcoin-Only edition is a super-secure hardware wallet designed specifically to protect your Bitcoin. Its air-gapped, it has anti-tamper features, and EALC5+ security chip that make it a top choice for anyone serious about holding Bitcoin for the long run. And although I use lighter and smaller devices for daily transactions, for long-term storage, this device is perfect.
