In an interview today, Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, sat down for an interview with Gary Vay-Ner-Chuk, owner of Vaynermedia. Part of this interview was dedicated to the discussion of whether or not making all tickets into NFT's would be something he would consider and how it would work. Would it be profitable, why would people even want to buy them and why this would even be a thing as well as how.
Obviously a part of this is jumping onto the hype-train NFT's have started in recent months, even though it has died down quite a bit since, NFTs are here to stay even if they aren't the messiah of digital art as they were seemingly portrayed as for a while.
Here is a snippet of the interview from Gary's Instagram page:

And here is that part of the interview:
So, how would it work? Quite simple actually, every ticket to every game that is sold is a unique one. Because tickets have a lot of things on them, the date, the matchup, the row and seats you are in, and most important is the seat itself as it is what makes your ticket unique. Every other person could have bought a ticket to Mavericks VS Suns on the 31 of December, some of them may also get the same row as you, but no one can have the same seat.
And people would want this, it is a gamble in a lot of ways because of the value it could have but also the value you could lose. Cause in this situation even though you, the owner of the NFT, set the price, the demand will not be there unless it is a game that is worth other peoples time. As they mention in the interview, if someone got a ticket NFT for a game where Luka Dončić scores 100 points (or some similar awesome feat) that cards value would skyrocket. On the other hand, if it was a heavy loss against a "bad" team than it's value would probably be close to nothing.
One thing that is not certain is whether all tickets are planned to be NFTs or if this would be a choice given to the buyer, I'd guess that it was the latter but you never know.
Take out of that what you may, I just wanted to share the news with you and see what others think about this. Mark Cuban, being the investor, owner and wealthy man that he is, will obviously use this situation to it's fullest I've got no doubts about that, it's just a question of "where does this take NFTs". If everything is an NFT than what's the point... I really don't have the knowledge to talk about that tho, I just find it interesting to be quite honest.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it!
