Since 2016, I have been in favor of Trump, more or less, in comparison with other US politicians and presidential candidates.
I must say, however, that over the years my approval of his work has been declining. It started with the January 6th attack. He not only failed to denounce the riot, he also claimed the whole election was rigged.
That was an attack on the biggest republic and democracy in the world.
Fast forward to 2026: his indecisiveness in the Iran war, his constant talking out of both sides of his mouth, his failure to bring any resolution to the war, and his willingness to make deals with unreliable people in charge of Iran, who are backed by Russia and China, show that he doesn't even measure up to the weakest president the US has had, Joe Biden.
Yes, I said it out loud. Trump is even shittier than Biden. He is failing in foreign policy in a way that no US ally can trust, he is showing weakness in front of the Islamic Republic, and he is failing to bring any resolution, letting the entire world's energy situation fall into crisis.
Additionally, he has failed miserably in the China trade war as well as in Ukraine, the war he promised to end in 2 weeks.
Now, with his latest promise of giving $5000 to every adult if Republicans win both houses, he is turning the USA into a laughing stock and undermining the entire concept of a republic.
He is reducing it to a third-world dictatorship that buys people's votes by handing out a sack of potatoes or onions and a bag of rice at the polls.
And the worst is yet to come. This shit show will be tried by other politicians across the globe, namely in Europe (especially Eastern Europe) and South America. And if it works in the USA, it will become a future tactic here as well.
As much as my own interests favor a Republican win, I hope they lose badly this round, so this insanity stops at this stage, before it becomes more widespread.
This is the failing of a republic. As Sir John Glubb wrote in The Fate of Empires, nations rarely fall from outside attack. They decay from internal rot, once wealth replaces duty.
