Russia is planning to ban direct P2P crypto trading from July 2027.
Under the new rules, people will have to buy and sell crypto through authorized intermediaries, such as licensed brokers and registered exchanges.
And that's not all. The rules also restrict transfers from regulated crypto accounts to personal wallets, where users control their own private keys.
Non-qualified investors will also face a limit of 300,000 rubles per year through each intermediary, while qualified investors will have different rules.
At the same time, major Russian financial institutions, including Sberbank and Moscow Exchange, are preparing to launch crypto services in December.
Honestly, it looks like Russia wants to bring the crypto market under its own control. Instead of letting people trade directly or move their crypto freely, the government wants them to use approved platforms.
And the part about personal wallets is especially concerning. One of the main reasons people use crypto is to control their own money without relying on banks or other intermediaries. These restrictions could make that much harder.
