Microsoft's official X account was apparently hacked.
The account suddenly followed a Clippy-themed crypto account, reposted one of its posts and even changed Microsoft's profile picture to Clippy.

The posts were quickly deleted, followed by a strange apology that was also removed shortly afterwards.
Microsoft later confirmed that the account had been compromised and said the posts were not made by the company. The company secured the account and is investigating what happened.
The hackers were apparently trying to promote a cryptocurrency called CLIPPY and even tried to make it look connected to Microsoft and its MSFT stock.
Microsoft made it clear that it had not authorized the use of its name or Clippy for the cryptocurrency and that owning the token gives no ownership rights in Microsoft.
I found this super funny and hilarious.
I just hope nobody actually got fooled by it and invested in such a meme coin. Of course, it has nothing to do with Microsoft and is not backed by the company.
Still, it is a pretty nice embarrassment for Microsoft.
To be honest, I don't have much sympathy for Microsoft anymore. I feel like they have been getting more and more sloppy over the years, even before AI became a big thing.
They have been delivering half-finished products for years, and now it feels like they are vibe coding Windows as well. The quality has really gone down, and some of their products have become difficult to use.
Windows, Teams, Office... it feels like everything is getting more complicated while becoming less reliable.
So seeing Microsoft's official account get hijacked to promote a fake Clippy crypto coin was honestly pretty hilarious.
