Another crypto wrench attack happened, this time in Thailand.
Three armed men broke into a luxury home near Pattaya and forced a Chinese man with Turkish citizenship to transfer around $820,000 in crypto. They also stole cash and three luxury watches before escaping.
Police later found their abandoned getaway car and are now investigating the case. The suspects have not been identified yet.
And this is not the only case. According to Chainalysis, more than $30 million was stolen in violent attacks targeting crypto holders during the first half of 2026.
For me, the biggest question is how these criminals knew that the victim had so much crypto in the first place.
Did someone leak his information, or was he careless with his privacy? We don't know.
But this is exactly why I keep saying that you should be careful about what you share online.
There is no reason to show off how much money you have, what you invest in, or how successful you are. And this applies to everything, not just crypto.
People spend so much time worrying about hackers stealing their crypto that they forget someone could simply show up at their home with a gun and force them to transfer it.
I also wrote about a similar wrench attack in the UK, where a crypto investor was targeted in his own home. Read my previous article: "Crypto Investors Are Becoming Targets in the UK".
