Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: New Season and Buying Epic Cards

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! We are in the middle of a new season of Splinterlands and I'm currently at Silver II League. It's been a struggle to advance so I'm looking to upgrade my cards. Looking at the market, archons are still expensive so I bought a couple of epic units instead.

Aranduriel - 2 BCX for $1.62

I have two BCX of Aranduriel so I bought two more to upgrade her to level two.

This level up will grant Aranduriel with one more health stat and more importantly, the Painforge ability. Painforge adds to Aranduriel's power when she gets Poisoned, Burned or hit by an ally. This gives her synergy with another epic dragon unit, Songale who has the Reckless ability which deals 1 damage to an adjacent ally every time he lands a successful attack.

This replicates my earlier combo in the Fire splinter only this combo is in the backline instead of the frontline in the Fire splinter.

Here the Cavewise Wayfinder has the Reckless ability while the Vicious Giraffe has Painforge. Every successful attack by Wayfinder hurts the Giraffe and adds to his power.

Molten Elemental for $0.90

The Molten Elemental has two attacks but can only be effective in certain rulesets such as Melee Mayhem or Close Range where both attacks can be used in any position. In certain conditions, the Molten Elemental can play as tank because he has enough defense. He can also fly and has the Void ability to decrease magic attacks.

These are the epic cards I bought to add to my deck. I'm still waiting for a cheaper price for archons before I buy.

Featured Battles in the New Season Battle 1 - Fire Trio Combo

My fire trio combo in my previous post in action. The three works well together as detailed in my previous post.

In this battle, I'm against a higher level team which features max level cards for a level five archon. These included level two legendaries, level four rares and level five commons. My team has only level two archons but I believe my units have better synergy. The synergy between the three units I already discussed before but here the ruleset allows melee units to attack with Sneak so I added the Drybone Megalodon which will have five melee attack and the Halfling Refugee who will have four melee attack. In the rear, I placed the Swiftbeard Stout who will empower fellow dwarf Portly Cannoneer with his Bloodline Tribute ability when he dies.

It was tough at first since the enemy tank has thick armor that gets repaired. Thankfully the ruleset includes Super Sneak which allowed me to decimate the enemy from the rear. The combination of my high damage and the enemy's low health units allowed me to win this battle.

Battle 2 - Electrified Units in Action

In this battle, I used three units that high damage but hurt their allies.

Shock Trooper Water Diviner Songale image.png image.png image.png

The Shock Trooper deals four magic damage and the Water Diviner does two magic damage. Both units have the Electrified ability which deals one damage to all allies at the beginning of round two. Songale has the Reckless ability which deals damage to adjacent units. Normally I wouldn't put these three in the same team but the ruleset includes Back to Basics so their abilities don't work in this battle. I have the benefit of their high magic attacks while not having to deal with their (dis)abilities. The rest of my team is composed of Commander Slade in tank duties and two archers in the back.

My opponent's damage dealers are not that high compared to mine so I won this battle easily.

Battle 3 - Painforge for Fun

I tried the Painforge combo in front and in the rear. My masochist units love the pain and getting stronger as they get hurt.

My opponent also used dragon and anchored his strategy on high magic attackers.
