Splinterlands | Showcasing Great Combos & Battles !

This week it's all about sharing epic battles in the Social Media Challenge...

Fun Battles in Splinterlands

Splinterlands is a game that has the potential to have really fun battles with crazy outcomes but in reality, most of the time you are both limited by the cards you own and by the game rules that kind of force you to play specific cards and strategies. This makes it really hard to go out and test out some special combos in ranked since you always want to play most optimal since rewards depend on it.

I stick to the idea that Splinterlands could get a lot more adoption in case there was a new game mode which

  1. Puts Everyone on a Level Playing Field
  2. Allows players to play when they want instead of the obligation of grinding 60+ minutes daily
  3. Has and affordable pay-2-play monetization model.

I already wrote about the onboarding issues earlier this week with some suggestions to have it fixed.

Finding Great Battles!

My original idea for this challenge was to watch many of the battles that were shared by others already and make a list of the most spectacular ones. However, after watching 10 different matches or so, all of them were just painfully boring as they were random battles just shared. This mainly because battles are most interesting in Gold League or higher and most players that also write about the game are on a lower level since it's really expensive to get to the fun levels.

It's also hard to get excited about watching battles even as a player who knows the game let alone as someone who watches to possibly make an account. The background with the bricks also has been the same for many years and just looks bad and should be improved on if they want to ever get a more mainstream adoption.

Replays shared on the internet should also include the selection process somehow

Guild Discord Shared Battles!

The guild remains one of the most enjoyable parts of the game and at times great combos or matches are shared in there. So I'm drawing from those for this post in order to get something that is actually interesting.

  1. Great Combo !: If you have the expensive cards available, it's possible to make a double Weapons Training Combo with the Life or Death Splinters. With just 29 Mana available, it's possible to have a line-up that has 22 attack each round! This battle was shared by @skirenj Battle Link 1 ] [Battle Link 2]

  2. Overpowerd Krash Wanderford: This is a battle from a while ago showcasing how overpowered the Krash Wanderford Gladius card can be while not that many people are playing it.

Combined with the Weapons Training of the Frexian Hero and the Jacek Summoner, it gets 12 Speed making it hard to hit along with 3 Melee attack and Piercing while also doing Torns Damage. With the game rule giving it fury along with some bloodlust buffs, it gets even wilder giving it 9 Attack and 23 !! Speed This battle was shared by @imno[Battle Link]

    Conclusion !

Splinterlands for sure can have some awesome battles but in reality this happens only occasionally often times in the Brawls at the higher levels. I'm looking forward to the player experience improvements they are planning to make even though at the same time I can't say I have too much hope that the current problems the game is facing will be fixed anytime soon.
