There have been more players coming into the game likely because of the current NFT hype which made the market cap of all cards combined now reaching around 8 Million Dollars.

This is not so much because the cards themselves went up all too much in value but because there was a peak in card purchases on March 13th which was likely a whale getting in buying up a lot of packs.

I started 2020 with a card collection of 354$ in my main account and playing systematically reinvesting the earnings without ever selling a card now has gotten the value up to above 2000$ by now. I'm personally still very comfortable holding on to my cards and am planning to make a full post explaining the game economics in an easy-to-understand way one of these weeks.

I managed to reach my highest rank (place 18) in the Gold League since I started playing receiving 5 packs as a reward on top of the 30 loot chests for it. I did need to grind out 368 games for it with a big part of those being played on the last day.

The main issue with the top 10 summoners usage is that daily quests highly influence these. I usually play the first games of the day with the summoner needed to quickly complete the quest which makes it sub-optimal causing me to lose more matches than I should. I have been wanting to play optimal each and every match playing more if needed before able to complete the quest but so far I haven't gotten to that yet.

I certainly learned a lot already from my reports when it comes down to cards I should use more or less. I have a soft spot for Melee attack and like to go full out on it which right now shows not to be the best strategy as both the Daria Dragonscale Summoner and the Enchanted Pixie clearly have a poor win rate compared to the others. The same goes for the Giant Roc which provides Trample and the Tortisian Chief providing extra heal.

I'm way less focused on tracking the rewards and earnings this year as opposed to last year when I tried to make a clear case on what Earnings from Splinterlands look like. That's it for this season, I once again will aim to finish inside of the top 30 in the Gold league in the coming 2 weeks.

I continue to play the game and offer a win-win sign-up deal in 2021 for everyone that starts out with the game using my Referral Link. I updated what I'm offering recently see Full Sign-Up Deal and I will keep this in place normally during the entire year.

Important: Treat games in the first place as games and not as investment opportunities, Splinterlands allows you to earn some money and get good returns but you are much better off flipping burgers in Mcdonalds when looking at the money earned for the time invested.
