Splinterlands | Fire & Regret Battle Challenge

Splinterlands | Fire & Regret Battle Challenge

Another Game Rule this week for the Share Your Battle Challenge which is also called the Battle Mage Secrets for Splinterlands. This is the Rule where all monsters have the Return Fire Ability !

What I wrote the last time about this game rule is the following...

I actually totally forgot about the Runic Skyclaw which I own at level 4 which falls just short of having the reflection shield ability. I would need to buy 15 more copies to get it there. That would set me back just 5$ which right now feels like way too much for a single level up on a card even though it's crazy cheap compared to where the prices once were.

The oversupply in cards and very limited utility is just a massive problem for the game as it doesn't make any sense to buy more cards as your are sure their value will fall off a cliff once they get moved out of Modern. At the same time I still kind of have an urge to expand my collection which speaks a lot for Splinterlands. Unless they fix the card supply/usecase issue I will be extremely cautious to buy cards though.

The other 2 game rules for this match were that all monsters get the Opportunity ability and nothing ever misses it's target because of the Aim True. All this for a max of just 22 Mana.

I opted for a Melee -Focused Deck which putting the Haunted Spirit in first place which at level 3 (on my alt account) has self-heal but ni reflect. That would have helped a lot since my opponent played a full Magic Deck. Since all melee monters are able to attack from any position, I played the Wily Coyotian in 2nd place. This is actually a good card for the mana 2 cost. My Vtuz in this rule set is also always a must since it has the Martyr ability and low health which makes it so that it's bound to get killed giving the monsters aside it some extra stats. The double attack of the Dhampir Infiltrator for just 4 mana tends to do a lot of damage output and the +2 armor given by the Ravenhood Warden also tends to be worth it despite the fact that it will get hit by return fire. With just 1 mana left, I opted to slow down my opponent playing the Creeping Ooze.

With the ratings inflation, my Deck which is somewhere between Bronze and Silver league was up against someone at Gold League so it was for sure a though fight. I did manage to win it as my damage output was enough to kill his Mycelic Slipswpawn which had a healer. It was very close though and one of those matches were I was able to defeat the Pay2Win game. I liked the battle and still things Splinterlands highly underuses how fun the game potentially can be. There has been 3+ years now of pure focus on the economy and nothing whatsoever has improved about the actual gameplay which is a shame. I do hope this will change going forward.
