Splinterlands | Even Stevens Battle Challenge

A common rule set is highlighted this week for the Share Your Battle Challenge which now also is called 'Battle Mage Secrest" in Splinterlands. This is the Even Stevens Game Rule.

This is another one of those rules that appear quite frequently alongside of only odd mana cost monsters that are allowed to be used. If anything it shows that players can't just have a small collection and play with that and it rewards those players that own more cards. With the Even Steven rule, I tend to go for the Water Splinter which has plenty of great cards with Even Mana cost which also work well with the Arlic Stormbringer Summoner or the Legendary Possibilus. The Kraken, Deeplurker, Arkemis The Bear, Demented Shark, Djinn Oshannus all are great options with that summoner. My 2nd choice tends to be the Death Splinter Which has some great even mana-cost monsters that have good synergy. That is what I used for the battle this week since Water was not allowed...

With game rules of a 28 Mana Cap, all monsters getting Amplify and only Class Cards allowed to be used, I went for a speed Death deck with Astral Entity Legendary Summoner which I love. My go-to tank is always the Nightmare followed by the Corrupted Pegasus. With only 8 Mana left I selected the Undead Priest to lower the speed of the opponent and give all the opponents monsters -1 health, The Fallen Specter mostly to lower the attack of the opponents and the Ravenwood Warden which is by far the most useful Soulbound reward cards for the Death Summoner as it gives much-needed armor.

I had some room to play the 0-mana Fiend but opted not to do this as the Astral Entity gives 1 resurrect and I don't want that card to use that. Looking at it now it was actually better to still play it as the winning odds in Splintertools give ~90% with it as opposed to ~80% without it.

It turned out into a fairly easy win as my main tank managed to stay alive thanks to the speed, heal and armor.
