After Arbitrum and recently Celestia airdrops, airdrop craze is getting to the max. There is a even new category of twitter accounts/personalities (X accounts? lol) known as "airdrop hunters" or "airdrop influencers". Since there is a big attention on airdrops, of course there are lots of scam evolving around it. You must be extra careful before clicking a link, especially on Twitter.
There is a new trend about tweeting under official update, make it seem like a legit thread with same nickname/pfp/profile in general, where people publish scam links (and making it seem legit with lots of likes and comments). So user might think "yeah' that's legit!" and next they'll find themselves drained.
- Triple check the tweets and the accounts connected to them. Only follow official accounts or well known airdrop news accounts.
- Check again the spelling of the twitter account, if you see scam tweets report them as a scam (you might save someone like this).
- Never click ads on Twitter about crypto (in general, do not click any ad :).
- Don't try to be the first claim an airdrop, legit airdrops usually has claiming window large enough.
- Even official accounts getting hacked quite often, so don't rush.
- Think twice about airdrop hunting, check the project's credibility, tokenomics and the its team... in short DYOR very well.
For Cosmos ecosystem there are few accounts worth following to know about the airdrops and legit ways to claim them.
